I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

Strange one today with Zavvi, they sent me the Amary case version of Foxy Brown instead of the Steelbook. When I try to look for a number or email address to arrange a return I just keep on being sent in circles. Finally found out how to arrange it but it's a bit of a pain, no?

They done the same to me, Sent the amaray instead of the steelbook. I'm still going round in circles trying to work out how to return it

I need some help guys/gals...If I placed ONE order with Zavvi for THREE different titles with THREE different release dates, Will they ship them when each is released or ship them all together when the last one is released?

Trying to place an order on Zavvi to a friend in the UK and now they are requiring a telephone number. I can't place the order without a phone number. That's never happened to me before.

That's probably to check it's a genuine address, etc. Lots of couriers insist on phone number at recipient end.
Not really too impressed with the packaging thus far. I think for international shipments, perhaps they should consider more padding/slightly bigger boxes-seems not too much padding for the distance a delicate collectible is traveling/getting tossed around. Hope the rest of my pre-orders arrive ok across the point.
Well you know what you could do. :D

Shuffled a few of my Zavvi orders over the weekend, but when I went to cancel the older ones it wouldn't let me. It claimed the discs were in an 'offer' (even though they weren't) and recommended I ring them.

I sent a query instead and they cleared it up pretty quickly. Though I then got three emails saying "You know you can cancel stuff yourself?" well yes I do - assuming the system works as it should.

Still have to give them credit for sorting it ASAP even on a Sunday.

Also, is there a reason why some steelbooks work with the discount codes (in terms of pre-orders) and some don't? Or is it just random luck?

I just got a cancellation mail from Zavvi for Ted steelbook that they can not deliver though it was able to order from their site, only that pathetic ..

They say they haven't withdrawn any funds but i have a withdrawl from 13/6 for that exact amount :BS:

Got my Finding Nemo today. Funny thing is that Zavvi supposedly delayed the shipping because they were looking for new packaging to ensure the Steelbook wouldn't be damaged and so on, but the package I got was exactly like the current one, without bubble wrap and a little foam. I guess I was lucky it hasn't arrived damaged. I also hope they package it better to send my other orders with more than 1 Steelbook.

Latest titles are Anchorman and the Transformers sequels so perhaps Zavvi have already reached the bottom of the barrel.

I shouldn't really complain. I'm not an obsessive steelbook collector and I don't much like superheroes so I should really be applauding Zavvi for releasing so many titles. It ensures a reasonable handful of titles I'm interested in.

They aren`t gonna change the Packaging-this is their newest one-you`ll get each Steel in a single Package.

Steelbooks are no longer the nice little rarity that they once were, when you had something special in your collection of movies. Zavvi have absolutely killed this now and I believe steelbooks are just as common as amarays and given time there will no longer be anything special about collecting these. With so many back catalogue titles being released now soon steelbooks will be just as common as amarays and I think that the interest in them will fade unfortunately. This is part of the reason I have started to sell through my collection of steels whilst they are still desirable. It's a shame but zavvi have just gone over the top with all the releases. Rant over haha :)

I can see where you're coming from as Zavvi do seem to be milking the cash cow at the moment. But on the other hand at least most of their releases are primarily limited runs (though 4k is still a lot) and you can't buy them anywhere else. So I think they will remain fairly rare regardless.

Unless of course Zavvi keep on boosting the print runs and numbers etc, along with the prices, in which case you may well be right. My only real concern right now is trying to keep the actual quality of the films receiving a steelbook fairly high, which is not always the case (Transformers sequels etc).

These are all of my concerns as well. Zavvi needs to release exclusives along the lines that Play.com used to. They must be affordable, limited print/edition, and not every single movie should always be a steelbook.

I don't think 4k is a lot. I don't think we should expect even more limited print runs, unless we're prepared to pay £30+. I'm not going to pay that amount for a special packaging just because it's limited.
