Current packaging is a cardboard mailer with the steelbook usually wrapped in either a layer of bubble wrap or foam

I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

1/19/2013 Member Nyvo tweeted Zaavi about packaging concerns. They said they may be looking into alternate packaging methods.

I ordered Aladdin, Close encounters and Taxi driver together and got £4.00 off £40.00 , since Aladdin has already arrived I today attempted to cancel Taxi Driver and Close encounters since I already have both of them ( taxi driver digibook ) and the 3 disc edition of close encounters but it states I can no longer cancel since Aladdin has already been sent out and was purchased as part of the offer.

I suppose this makes sense but I had no idea I was unable to cancel any of my orders once one of them had shipped. I've done the same thing with Kill Bill ( which has now shipped ) , reservoir dogs and the evil dead remake. I wont be able to cancel the last two now since Kill Bill has already arrived.

Although I have received money off of the orders that have arrived I think Zavvi should make more of a point of this, I'm now £30.00 out this month for two steelbooks I don't really even want. I guess it's my fault for not being more observant.

Actually you can still cancel them if you raise a Query. For whatever reason a lot of the Zavvi steelbooks are listed as part of Offers even when they really aren't - I think Zavvi list a lot of their exclusive steels as being on Offer for some reason. So even if you don't have a discount code they won't let you manually cancel them for some reason.

I had the same issue whereby I couldn't manually cancel items myself, but if you raise a query and ask them to cancel the items you don't want then that should be fine (at least it was for me).

I believe the issue is the fact that you used a discount code. For these when on pre order, the only option is to cancel the whole order because you received a discount by ordering together. That is the issues with your orders. You received a discount on the shipped items

You can indeed raise a query on the order via your account page to cancel items from an already part-fulfilled order. I did this recently and they responded pretty quickly. Only problem was that they only cancelled one of the two items I asked them to cancel so there was a bit of 'back-and-forth' to get it sorted out. Was much less difficult than I had expected, though.
 
About CANCELLATION order, must waiting COMFIRMATION from Zavvi? OR when we hit CANCEL status, it's direct CANCEL like Amazons site?

EDIT:Nevermind. just got CANCELLATION email.

Can someone tell me how it works with Zavvi and changing my card details? If I want to get a new card and change my card details on Zavvi, will it apply for pre orders too, or will I have to do it differently, to change billing details on pre orders? I don't want to lose them because of this... Thanks!
 
Makes me want to cancel my PO for The Rocketeer, after cancelling Jungle Book, The Little Mermaid and IM3. Seriously, such junky packaging, it's insulting.

That is terrible! Worst I've seen! Cringed just looking at it :( Have you contacted zavvi about this?, they're packaging needs to go back on the drawing board, play had the best packaging hands down.

You got zavvied indeed my friend, sorry to see that. Since they have changed their package for this cheap version of Play packaging I have received 3 damaged steelies, but I must say yours is scary! I have cancelled most of my pre-orders from Zavvi and frankly I'm didn't order the latest releases and I have no plans to do so. :angry:

BTW what's in the package? Aladdin?

Not in the best mood tonight, so I will open tomorrow. If it is Aladdin I will be completely pissed
 
The packaging simply isn't up to scratch. You need packaging that absorbs impacts and bubblewrap is one of the best materials for that. I think Zavvi are going to be out of business with the returns at this rate.... Unless it's the Post Office Staff playing a new game. "Can we spot the steelbooks and play football with them during our lunch break"

Right. In spite of boxes arriving damaged, the SBs never are (my experience) - which (as far as i know) is the whole point of a box, in the first place. :cool:

KimchiDVD's packaging is okay. The box used isn't that hard. 90% of the Kimichi boxes arrive damaged (my experience).

I prefer Play.com or Amazon's packaging.
