Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

Hey folks, we don't know why Zavvi took down the number of copies that were posted on the site, if it is based on an increased print run or what, but we a the staff level have stressed to them the importance about creating a limited run for any steelbook.

I do believe they have listened and understand our request. And at one point they stated to us the print run was indeed 5,000 copies.

However, you have to remember that sometimes the studio will dictate how many copies a retailer will have to take to "secure the bid", as we saw with HMV high print runs and the amount of copies they would grab in order to have a steelbook edition during their exclusives.

But long term members that are speculating about what "is happening" really do nothing to assist the new members and new collectors that visit this forum every day for steelbook news.

I personally would appreciate a little more discretion when posting on this topic.

Thank you.

illegal :hilarious:

you are free to cancel your order.. they didnt announce it anywhere as 5k.. it just stood there and now it doesnt

Yes it is illegal. At least in the U.S. it is. Even sony got stung with fines for adverstising something that wasn't. Happens all the time. That's besides the fact. I did cancel today. I am sure I wont be the only one. MY trust in zavvi is gone for ever. They just lost a big customer for life.

yeah, i'm sorry to tell you that a preorder is no legal sales contract and they could change wreck-it ralph to meet the spartans and you couldnt do **** about it

Im sure zavvi will miss your custom, they are releasing lots of steelbooks and remember they ship worldwide for virtually nothing whilst us in the uk subsidise this.

Maybe they should reduce the prices, then only ship to uk like play or es as it is now do. But then you would complain about gb prices blah blah.

Their a big company and as such want to make a profit, their steelbook releases (disregarding spine slashes) have been of a high quality and hopefully this will continue, especially with hdn support which as it stands seems to go both ways. They listened to us about the back art and changed it, how many companies would do this?

I don't like to take part in these discussions but I have to say this: lately, the amount of whining and nagging and conspiracy theories has grown exponentially and is taking its toll on the fun side of being a member of this site. This really needs to just stop.

The problem I have is its a collectable and they are selling it as one and giving the print run during the order phase. They then decide to pull that and not notify anyone who made any preorders. For all we know 90% of everyone who ordered assumed it was going to be 5000 run and then they find out they are not in tight collectable supply. They are just like any other mass produced amaray.

P.S. Don't kill me. I am just the messanger relaying the info about the FACT they did drop the advertised 5000 off their site. Just because you don't collect rare things doesn't mean that most of the people who are quitting on a daily basis on this site over the last two years were not. We all have our reasons for collecting and rarity is one of the main reasons I got into steelbooks as well as the love for owning movies on Blu-ray and watching them.

Nobody needs to get uptight over it. I was only letting this board know they took it down. Sorry for helping out. Jeeezzzz

yeah, of course its disappointing, but not illegal.. i understand why youre canceling your order and its a legit reason

ofc only in case they really increased the print, which is an assumption at best

I would say its about a 100% correct assumption. Being able to brag a 5000 print run for U.K. on a day and date title is a pretty amazing thing to be able to do. That's why I ordered Monsters Uni from them instead of Germany.

It is true that you relayed the fact that they had removed the print run information from their website listing. However, you also relayed the assumption that they have increased the print run which is nothing more than speculation. Of course what you suggest does make sense, but it can also be explained by the incompetence of Zavvi staff with numerous errors appearing on their website on a regular basis.

I understand why you would be annoyed, but you also have to appreciate that some members are sick of reading the same rubbish about Zavvi every day. Zavvi are doing this, Zavvi are doing that, it is rather tiresome and boring. I know it has made my experience of this forum a lot less pleasant. Before Zavvi came along, most members seemed to get on well and we could actually have reasonable discussions. Now it takes no more than a handful of posts before things turn nasty and a mod has to get involved. I think that those who take offence at Zavvi's practices would be better off trying to bite their tongue rather than pretend that they are doing a great service to other collectors/members as all it does is cause conflict. Everyone can make up their own mind about Zavvi.

everyone's entitled to their opinions whether its something we heard before or not. We are not all conformist here (at least i hope not)

just because someone states a point or fact or speculation that goes against the grain doesn't mean we all jump on them and shoot them down for their statement.

chip was never bashing on zavvi in the beginning of his statement when he merely just stated they removed the 5k print run from the listing. Its being provoked and honestly that type of behavior towards members here really shouldn't be tolerated anymore

Regardless of whether or not Zavvi messed up by putting the print run in the first place, or whether someone messed up by accidentally removing it (which is very odd)... the fact is... putting the print run for the entire preorder time period all the way up until it is believed to be almost "sold out" (whatever that means these days) and then mysteriously removing it is not right.

It creates confusion. It makes people think silly things... and rightfully so I believe.

This is a discussion forum and members have the right to express their opinion about any online steelbook retailer, Zavvi included.

Maybe there is a reason so many members complain about Zavvi's (bad) practices. And there is probably also a reason they keep complaining OR discussing about their past experiences.

I have noticed that you have been defending Zavvi on both forums. That is your right to do so. You could be working for Zavvi and you are probably very proud of the company you are working for. That's absolutely fine. And this is of course an assumption, simply because I can't think of any other reason why someone would defend an online retailer the way you do. You even go as far as suggesting that members who have had bad experiences with Zavvi, should try 'to bite their tongue'. Which means that you basically want to eliminate all negative reviews about Zavvi on this website.

And that is of course not done. Users should be encouraged to share their negative experiences with any online retailer. If they have had a negative experience with Zavvi, it is their right to share their story. Some members might not like it, but it is their job to keep the discussion respectful. Why? Simply because they have to keep in mind that the users who write negatively about Zavvi (or any other company) are targeting a retailer, not a fellow HiDef member. And respect for each other should be more important than someone's loyalty to any company.

Sorry for the bad grammar, it's late and I am tired...

Also let's get back on topic and/or continue this discussion in the retailer topic.

Also let's get back on topic and/or continue this discussion in the retailer topic.

There's a difference between stating a fact like a possible change in the print run and then insinuating that Zavvi are cheats, liars etc. I'm not saying you shouldn't report your negative experiences, if you get a spine slash, a damaged Steelbook, then that's a valid reason to complain. I don't want to eliminate negative reviews, just stop the speculative rubbish that is often posted on this forum. I've never seen a retailer get as much criticism as Zavvi do here even though their business practices are not really any different from any other retailer's. We are lucky that Zavvi state print runs at all as many retailers don't.

I don't work for Zavvi by the way, i'm just sick of reading negativity about them. Anyone can see that I posted here and at AV long before Zavvi came along. I could equally make the assumption that you work for one of Zavvi's competitors because your posts about Zavvi are so negative. Everyone used to get along here, now not a day goes by when there is not an argument about something or other (usually involving Entertainment Store or Zavvi). At the end of the day, we have to remember that these are just films, they're not really that important and certainly not worth falling out over. I just think that everyone would get a long better if members resisted the urge to post a negative opinion now and again. I remember the time when I was called out for being negative, how times change. I'm one of the more open minded members here now :hilarious:

As you say, time to get back on topic. Yet another thread derailed by a member deciding to express a negative opinion based on something seemingly innocuous.

5000 is back in the description.. so much for 100% correct assumptions

Yes, because Zavvi certainly don't have a history of Sold Out steels suddenly reappearing back into stock. Oh wait.........

Still it's a step in the right direction and I wish they would just say what the print run of all their exclusives was. If it's going to be 5k from now on - then just say that. Would save people getting worked up.
