When I pre-order, I put aside the cost into a different account, so in effect I've already paid for it. Make's it less of a hit when bulk releases come along.

Looking forward to getting these to add to the collection

Why is it ridiculous? You don't have to buy them all at once. I have kept my orders for Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King and have cancelled the others. I'm sure I will still be able to pick them up after Christmas and possibly at a cheaper price.
