Because paying people to either use other artwork, or to create new artwork, means less profit. They are already only making £8.80 after tax, before shipping costs and manufacturing. The margins are tiny. It's much cheaper to just use the amaray art. If this was a new release, they could probably have just charged £20 for it instead, and then maybe that would have been worth having some new artwork, but as it's a catalogue release they probably don't think they can charge as much as that.

that would make sense, but your point is contradicted by the recent fox and universal wave. they were £1 less, and yet all had different artwork from the amarays, inside artwork, some embossing, dvd copies etc. there must be profit in there somewhere for them.
i presume play.com pay very little for postage with the amount of things they post.
i imagine they justify it on account of collectors editions usually selling well (and with IM 1&2 selling out that proves the point) so they will sold thousands of these steelbooks, all for £10 a pop. probably on titles with low sales in recent months.
generates sales, and gets the collectors happy. they have listened to the collectors opinions too, with removing printed logos etc.
i imagine for play.com if they make £5 on each unit sold, its a result.
And of course, their reputation has rocketed now.

Don't forget they are based in Jersey and ship from there too, so thats more saved with very little or no tax! Also no shops just warehouse and office staff, so even more money overall saved! I think Play are a million times better than they were just a few months ago and it all seemed to happen so quickly when all the new steelbook waves were announced and the HDN terminator steel as I have renamed it :0)

Back on topic, I love both IM steels and the artwork, as the saying goes "if it ain't broke"!

I can't believe the prices on this steelbook. It's crazy, I wish I had ordered another copy or two now. Going to be a nervy few days around release date :ohno:

Well why didn't you order a few copies then when you had the chance to do so? lol. I mean you said before you were happy with the Asian one and now you want it? I just find it funny when steelz go OOP and now everyone is chasing it :hilarious:

Im thinking its not gonna sold out just like IM1. So i guess im wrong:p

Buts its ok im happy with my asian version:D

Do you think that its possible that they release a few more in the upcoming days?

Not ... a few more as in more qty ... but its possible they get better allocation on it and turn it back on around release date. Some people cancel etc. I've been told that part of the process is they may turn back on around release date if more copies are available to fit needs.

Dont expect IM1 to get turned back on around release date tho.

Seems to be back to saying
