Zavvi are overstretching themselves with Disney steelbooks.

They should stick to 2 a month, and know the dates for sure before putting them up for sale. Possibly 1 classic and 1 movie a month would make it easier as not everyone buys the movies (or indeed all the classics).

It can be quite hard to budget for them when you're expecting a couple and then a month later 4 drop through your letterbox.

Personally, I'm getting really tired of the email updates for delayed Disney steelbooks. I know that delays are always a possibility, but based on the fact that nearly every single Disney steel has had a delay of one type or another, I would greatly prefer that they build a little cushion into their projected release date right off the bat instead of having this continuous email stream following a missed release date.

But now, for my most important point, is that a soup made to cater specifically to the average pimp, or is it, in fact, made of actual pimps?

Yes it's bad that several have suffered delays and Zavvi should be telling Disney/manufacturer that it is bad service to have these constant delays.

I am not blaming the delays on Zavvi as I know very well they have no control. Obviously a retailer wants the newest items in stock and available to customers ASAP.

What I am saying they could do is simply push their estimated release dates back for Disney titles as they continue to see these kinds of issues. Heck, they are still posting release dates a month out for steelbooks that have just had the actual titles announced.

If, for example, they posted next week that Tarzan is the next steelbook coming out, I would hope they put up a release date of October at the earliest, but it's more likely they would announce it for August.

If they did say October and we made it to August and they said, hey, we can get this out in late September, people would likely be pretty happy to have a months notice that it's coming earlier rather than no notice that it's coming later and then suddenly have a charge appear one day when it starts shipping.
It's what I think anyway. I may be wrong.

Might not be the case with a catalouge title but it is usually the case that a retailer can not sell a title before the studios release date for that title.

You would have thought by now after we've had several of these steelbooks delayed Disney would be able to give more accurate dates to cover any manufacturing delays.


It makes me wonder with the rise in popularity of steelbooks there simply isn't the manufactuing capacity and catalouge titles are pushed for new releases.

So I was seriously expecting Tarzan to be revealed by now... especially with the release coming out soon US anyway . Still super happy for Mulan but I want my Tarzan also Does anyone here think we will get stills of any of the straight to dvd sequels? Also Sword and the stone pls!

I don't want to miss out on the special features, also, I don't want to buy the other version unnecessarily

It will most likely be only 1 disc as it was re-released as only 1 Disc in June 2012
Note this 1 Disc release had a printing error on the back of the Blu-ray case listing extras from the previous 2 Blu-ray release when it should have listed only the extras from Disc 1

But in saying that we wont know for sure until someone gets delivery and the steelbook is opened to see if its 1 or 2 discs
