I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

Evil, it's probably because some of the Steelbooks are 'Exclusives' only available at their site, or via a friend who can pick one up for you. Lets hope they change their packaging soon, or they'll have a bunch more angry customers, as Play once had before making changes....

play got there in the end and look how great they turned out to be...not good for the guys who have had damged stock delivered to them so far but there will be a light at the end of the tunnel.

Any update on when they will bring in the new packaging? Roger Rabbit is released in 3 weeks :ohno:

I just dropped in to ask the same thing. RR will be the first time I receive two copies of a steel for insurance. Will be feeling pretty glum if they both arrive mangled.

Really pi$$ed at Zavvi. Get an email out of the blue re Willow telling me that "We can confirm that the cancellation for the products listed below has been successful."
My immediate response to their CCS was:
Why has my order for Willow been cancelled? I have given no instruction for it to be cancelled. Can someone reply with an advice as to why it was cancelled by you, which is more likely. If that is the case then your email notification needs to be updated to reflect, ie "this item is no longer available" or similar. I will be posting a copy of this query in the HiDefNinja Retailers Form so that other collectors are aware.

If you want to portray yourselves as the place to come for Steelbooks, then you need to up your game very fast.

I'll let you know what happens. Not a happy bunny.

Lucky enough to receive my undamaged Looper from Zavvi today.

Came in a carboard slip with no protection whatsoever. As I said, very lucky!

I've got 3 in the mail, which are my first steelbook orders from Zavvi. I've received steels before that have just been in jiffy bags, or those thin cardboard mailers that leave them totally exposed. Thus far I have been fortunate enough to receive undamaged copies on those occasions.

So I'm hoping that I get lucky again.

Their whole operation just seems so slow and incredibly frustrating. Generally, I'm lucky if I get replies to queries within 48 hours. I sent a damaged copy of Man on Fire back to them and it was received on the 18th of February. I just this morning received a dispatch notice for a replacement. The new copy isn't estimated to arrive until the 11th March. That's a 3 week turn around, providing it arrives on time, for replacing a damaged order, despite the item being listed as 'In Stock' on their website the whole time.

are they really that bad for packaging or we talking about isolated incidents? i have a few steelbooks pre-ordered from them as they were a few quid cheaper than amazon. I'm now considering cancelling the pre-orders and going with amazon after reading this thread!!!!

The packaging is very poor currently. Barely any protection plus unacceptable standards of customer service. I currently always go for another supplier over Zavvi for steelbooks whatever the price and am generally unlikely to place orders for amarays on principal.
However, they are apparently making improvements so we'll see what happens. I've pre-ordered some of their steelbook exclusives and am willing to give them a chance. We will find out how well they've done so far when Roger Rabbit ships in a couple of weeks!

No, it'll be a cardboard wrap-around mailer if you're lucky, a jiffy or cardboard envelope if you're not.
