Current packaging is a cardboard mailer with the steelbook usually wrapped in either a layer of bubble wrap or foam

I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

I think Zavvi should improve their packaging and charge the true postage for overseas customers. Otherwise this damaged saga will continue forever.

As someone who lives in the U.S. I don't necessarily disagree, but something to keep in mind is that we aren't paying the VAT tax but are still being charged the same. Whenever I order from Amazon UK, it removes the VAT tax at the end, so it actually ends up being cheaper than what it shows. Probably still doesn't balance out exactly, but still something to consider.

I think next year we will see this increase in postage if damage rates continue to remain high. A business cannot afford to offer virtually free postage on a longer run and can't keep refunding or sending out free replacement free of charge like this unless they are someone huge like Amazon.

Zavvi doesn't operate from within UK so they don't need to pay VAT and don't need to reduce VAT to importers as well.

I have now cancelled all my Zavvi preorders. What they are doing with the prices is a real punch in the face for regular customers. High prices on preorders which drop very soon (some within a couple of weeks) after release? Come on Zavvi, you should know better than that...

if what you say about Zavvi not having to pay VAT is true, than simply put, local residents are paying for Zavvi's international business model.

It is true. Many retailers operate outside mainland UK in the Channel Islands to escape VAT. They need not discount VAT for importers and can charge the full amount.

Zavvi better start offering free shipping to overseas buyers to get them to keep purchasing their Region B matte dogs with crappy packaging and wayward shipping.

I just received yesterday, a Reservoir Dogs straggler that was opened, resealed, the shrink-wrap and thin foam pad removed, J-card stuck back on upside down, and a "LA PAZ - Bolivia 14 NOV 2013" ink stamp on the back of the cheap little white shipping box.

Just another reason why I love Tony and KimchiDVD!!!

Your better off not pre ordering as its already been said on the forum so i don't pre order any more. For example the Dick Tracy steel book was £14.99 then a couple days ago was £10.99 and then within a day or two its £7.99 bit of a kick in teeth if you pre ordered it your better off waiting for the steel books to drop.

I've cancelled all my preorders with zavvi now. I had Alan partridge on preorder since it went live at 17.99. When it dropped to 16.49 I thought I was covered by the pre order price promise. I got charged 17.99. So I dropped them an email.

They replied, it was 17.99 when I ordered. I sent another email, and another and eventually got an email back saying someone higher would look into it.

They came back, on this occasion due to loyal customer I will get the difference back but they said, only a certain select items are covered by preorder price promise.

So it's not worry preordering any more. I'm through with zavvi. People on here know how much money I spend on steels and slips, well it's their loss. With their stupid roller coaster ride prices which change rapidly and a big stuff you to the preorder gang, well it's not worth it.

I'll order when it's been released and when the price settles.

Cancelled few pre-orders. Kept the ones that have 2014 release date as there is plenty of time to decide and cancel.

No retailer can beat Amazon when it comes to customer service.

My one Zavvi wish is that their steelbook finishes start showing a good variety and with that a better quality steelbook again. In that way I doubt they will have to continue selling their stock off cheap! Win, win no?

I think im going to cancel all back catalogue preorders aswell, i dont mind paying full price for new films to get them on release even if they go down a week later though.

That is complete failure on the retailer level in providing customer service. Not only did they make the mistake of sending you the wrong item but they penalized you by cancelling all your orders due to their mistake. I'm really sorry my friend

Just about getting fed up with Zavvi these days , they have no idea what customer service is and how to treat their customers.
No customer telephone number , dodgy pricing and a total **** returns service.
Once my Disney and Pixar steels are shipped I'm done with them for good !
