Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

Even if they ran out of stock of boxes, it's completely a bad practice to ship ultra limited products so haphazardly, for a retailer who prides itself for providing 'unique' products. I can only hope my V arrives in good condition and in a box, but seeing that many UK members are getting dented copies, doesn't make me feel good.

If a retailer is going to sell a very limited product, they should make sure it is packaged better than a cardboard envelope, because there are no options for a replacement. People are then stuck with damaged goods and Zavvi is forced to offer a discount and lose money. Very bad PR and a very bad business move for any retailer, not just Zavvi.

Pretty much what trading standards told me 30 mins ago.

Oh boy, this does not look good. Hopefully it arrives mint, there's a very good reason as to why I've cancelled many of pre-orders with Zavvi, this being it.

Fair play to you mate. Zavvi think they can make/ break the rules - but they can't.

Yes, they are the main retailer for steelbooks, so as there is no real competition, they are happy to act like amateurs when they feel like it.

What will they do to rectify this situation?

Maybe offer a "flash sale" again, a nice 10% discount - code: LIKEDENTS10

I think HDN have a catch 22 situation.
Zavvi are obviously a good source for commission on sales etc and I get that.

However, from the excellent way that Zavvi are promoted on here, constantly, I think we all deserve more from Zavvi in return.

Forgot the box/envelope issue Zavvi, how about a little bit of class?

Cue the flash sale.

If the Majority of these arrived to customers damaged then if its possible they should get a new batch made and Replace the Damaged ones
This would depend on the amount of steelbooks arriving damaged to customers
If it only a small % then this would not happen even if we like it too

But In my opinion if over 60% (1500 Steelbooks) arrive damaged they should get replacements made for the customers

I like to know how many customers end up receiving damaged V For Vendetta Steelbooks

If this is widespread then Zavvi need to Act

when i first saw the box that V came in i was fully expecting it to be badly dented but surprising not a scratch on in it, agree wholeheartedly with what others have said about if the product is of a limited qauntity much better packaging must be provided

Zavvi no doubt ship tens of thousands items per week, how many of those actually arrive damaged? Sure it sucks to recieve one but the amount of damaged items are probably less than 0.1% of total items shipped. That isn't to say Zavvi shouldn't aim to improve perhaps by offering a premium packaging option so that those who choose can pay the extra. Sure that won't eliminate the possibility of damage but it might reduce it.

Zavvi want to be seen as a specialist collectables company, what with them now stocking Hot Toys and other items. They SERIOUSLY need to improve as a company on packaging!

They should at the VERY least offer 50% off any damaged steel buyers next order. Anything less is an utter insult!

Zavvi are a total bunch of useless C****!!!!!

I received my DAMAGED V For Vendetta steelbook on Saturday....:angry:

Below is the e-mail i sent to Zavvi yesterday....seemingly along with literally of hundreds of other steelbook collectors!!! Surprise surprise i've not had the pleasure of a reply yet!!!!

I'm considering taken this case to BBC Watchdog!! It is totally unacceptable for Zavvi, who call themselves "The Home Of Steelbookz!!!!" to send a limited print run of exclusive steelbooks in the most pathetic packaging ever!!!...and expect people to accept what has happened!! they simply don't give a flying f***!!!!!....so long as they have our hard-earned money!!!!

"DAMAGED V FOR VENDETTA STEELBOOK DONE DURING POSTAL TRANSIT!

Thank you for your e-mail reply of today regarding my damaged V For Vendetta steelbook, i attach a JPEG photograph showing the depressed dent to the back of the steelbook. You can see it across the right hand side of the "V".

I would really like to know why Zavvi think it is ok to send these limited edition steelbooks in pathetic A1 mailers as you did not answer this in my original e-mail? The fact that it was limited to 2,500 copies and are bought mainly by steelbook collectors should mean that if you had any kind of customer care your company would GUARANTEE that these steelbooks are sent out in your white boxes which at least offer minimum sturdier protection!!

I really feel sorry for people overseas who have bought this steelbook not knowing if it is being transported over large distances in packaging offering NO protection to the item they are buying from you!

Do you not think that people spending their hard earned money on steelbooks that i have to say are charged at a premium by your company should expect the packaging to be of sufficient standard to protect that item accordingly?

As it seems that you are unable to offer me a replacement as you have apparently sold all the stock I will be far from happy if you only offer me your standard 10% refund on this damaged steelbook...i should think that a MINIMUM 50% reduction should be offered as i have been a long standing customer of yours over the last 2 years buying steelbooks AND considering the pathetic packaging it was sent out through the postal system in!!!!

I understand from various posts on HiDefNinja that other steelbook titles are being sent out by you in these A1 cardboard mailers....is this new Zavvi policy because i shall seriously consider withdrawing my custom from you if that is the case, i refuse to spend my hard earned money on premium charged steelbooks packaged in sub-premium packaging!!!! I think your customers spending their money on these steelbooks deserve decent protective packaging as minimum, don't you??

You advertise yourselves as "The Home of Steelbookz"....well you certainly don't care much for your customers when limited edition steelbooks get damaged and you are unable to send a replacement...why do you not hold back a "reasonable number" to cover damaged ones???...or does pure greed take over???

I will absolutely want definite answers to my questions and not some pre-ordained "message response"!!!!

I look forward to hearing from you."

I will let everybody know what happens...Zavvi need to be sorted out once and for all!!!!:angry::angry::angry:

Zavvi are a total bunch of useless C****!!!!!

Their customer service is totally and utterly shocking!!!

BBC Watchdog AND Trading Standards would have a field day with them!!!....as that's where this will end up if NO answers to this debacle are forthcoming!!!:angry:

greenwolfe7,

i've asked them the question why a certain amount are not held back for this very reason!!

limited editions should have a number held back for this very thing...all Zavvi are concerned about is nabbing our cash!!! they don't care!! it takes days to get replies to e-mails!! as for phoning...don't even go there!!!:angry::drool:
totally, utterly incompetent and they desreve everything coming their way with this V For Vendetta debacle!!!!!

hopefully something is sorted before their next limited release is due out, i've got Yuma, CA2, last stand and the 4 Indy films on pre-order. paying premium prices we deserve to at least have a decent standard of packaging for our items, something like what amazon do would be superb as to me these are great for any i have recieved previously
