I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

After the recent shambles, it was the straw that broke the camels back. Out of about 25 Zavvi releases, I can say about 11 turned up with no damage. That is not good enough.

The new release buzz and limited print runs, sounds great in principle, but it's so soul destroying finally getting hold of a copy that is defective, damaged or both.

I have said before that I have cancelled all my preorders, minus Army of Darkness, SIn City and the Indy collection.

I really fear the Indy releases will cause so much stress for everyone. Getting the first 2 unharmed, but the other two damaged, or with a spine slash. No point keeping half the complete set on a sold out series.

Nothing will change with Zavvi, so I have made that change.

I am now going to concentrate on past releases, like play.com and other movies I love and enjoy the thrill of the hunt (which is what got me in the game anyway)

Zavvi have made collecting less attractive. It's mass produced now. If this continues, I may even get out of the "game" only one year into it.

On the plus side, I love HDN, which is a daily routine now!

Zavvi are a joke, with a very poor punch line.
Seriously considering canceling 3:10 To Yuma & The Last Stand.

Same here. In the span of a week I've already cancelled Scream, Pinocchio and Sin City, thinking I should do the same with the two titles you mentioned.

V for Vendetta arrived unscathed apart from a few scratches to the corners that is, but overall I'm just done worrying about "will they send them out in cardboard mailers" "will they slash the spines". Fed up with it. Shopping with Zavvi has lost it's punch.

Got Dark of the Moon in a cardboard mailer with one side totally crushed. Don't have high hopes for V for Vendetta now. Absolute rubbish.

Do Zavvi have some form of Supervisor contact mail. I feel we need to address these issues with them. The amount of business most ninjas give them here is substantial enough to prompt an investigation regarding our concerns and be supplied with some constructive feedback instead of an automated reponse which poses no good on anyone.

Mods, please advise.

I've found trying to deal with Zavvi is like trying to get blood out of a stone.

It's taken them 3 days to respond to my query as to why 'Re-Animator' which was released on the 2nd June, was pushed back to the 9th June, despite every other retailer sending out on the 2nd as per the official release.

I've also had to contact them today about my spine-slashed V for Vendetta.

They also send generic replies to queries as well. I asked a few questions about another steel and I just got a standard copy and paste reply that didn't address any one of the concerns.

But we still buy! And i'm guilty of it too - I have Army of Darkness on pre-order, and I don't want to cancel because otherwise i won't have a complete set.. and i'm not prepared to cancel and potentially pay over the odds on eBay... all Zavvi need to do is just take a bit more care with packing and improve their response times for CS and I reckon people would be happier.

Hey guys does this spine look like it's been printed off centre to you?

Zavvi CS doesn't think so...

I guess It's most noticeable if you look at the Warner logo on mine. Definitely not right.

This was Zavvi's response..

Hello kron,

Thank you for getting in touch about V for Vendetta.

After viewing the image you have sent us, I can see this is how the spine is supposed to be printed.

Hardly an issue though. I've got loads of steels with the spines slightly off centre. It's pretty much a 'normal' thing if you ask me (same with small paint chips on corners where the metal bends).

Am i right in thinking that DB said that Zavvi would be using the a1 mailers with a bit of foam from now on?

If thats the case then sorry but i will be cancelling all my pre-orders with them.

My mailer didn't have the foam in either... I don't mind when they send regular amarays in those - I have dozens of spare cases, so if they somehow get damaged, I can replace them. The steels should ALWAYS be sent in a box - NO QUESTIONS.

It's an issue for me, but I understand some people aren't as fussy. Each to there own and all that ;). I have around 200 steelbooks and not 1 has a spine that far printed off centre so I'm not about to start accepting that in my collection.. it would drive my OCD mad :p
