I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

I've gotta be honest here, I have never had any issues with Zavvi returns; I send them a message with a picture, telling them if I want a return or refund and they ALWAYS come back quickly with what I've requested.

Is it just me?

Nope, this is my experience too. It seems they have everyone else jumping through hoops to get a refund on this one but there was no issue for me. I simply used the drop down options to say I wanted to return it for a full refund and around a day later they sent the return information.

Thankfully there wasn't anything I was interested in, except for re-ordering past orders and bit with 'The Pianist'. I'm not an avid football supporter so couldn't have been less interested in what lies inside today's World Cup themed email. Would be nice if they did a Christmas themed email this year with 'A Muppets Christmas Carol' and 'The Polar Express' steelbooks

And while it's a pain having to take it to a specific set of shops (a mile and a bit away) to return it, rather than the post office (4 minutes walk), it's nice not having to pay for it.

I'd say over the last year, I've probably had to return about 50+ steels to Zavvi, for one reason or another and all except a couple of times (I'd asked them to cancel a couple of orders and they didn't, so couldn't understand why I'd received them when they could see my request) it's been dead easy.

should ve read this forum more carefully , still ordered pans labyrinth , hope it won't be too damaged , thx for the answer

Just received another Zavvi order in the brown mailer - this time with some bubble wrap. The steel was fine - I actually think the bubble wrap helped as it felt more padded than before. I think these are here to stay.

(Also got a steel from Amazon Italy today who sent it out in a cardboard mailer without protection. That one's dented of course!)

Starship troopers from there play outlet turned up with bubble wrap instead of bog roll but really thin. Oh and it turned up like a banana, thanks lads.

Do we have official word on what is happening with the boxes? Are they coming back soon? Or have they gotten rid of them as a cash saving measure? It'd be disappointing if they have.

It would be nice to know, wouldn't it? I have a feeling we're stuck with these mailers.

I looked back at the postings a year or so ago on this thread when people were going understandably nuts at Zavvi for using these and then the relief when they introduced the white boxes... maybe they thought we'd have all forgotten?

I suspect its someone from high up, saw the low profit zavvi have (presumably) been getting from steelbooks and this is a way to make even more for them (so he thinks)

No doubt. I wonder what percentage of Zavvi's total revenue comes from steelbooks? Can't be that much. Will be interesting to see how much the cancellations and returns eat into that slim profit margin.

Same here, clockwork orange in cardboard envelope but this time with bubble wrap, no damage

If they continue to use bubble wrap that will be a good move
I not got any delivery as of yet with bubble wrap but I do have orders due for delivery next week so will be interesting
I find Bubble Wrap is best for steelbooks from previous orders I have from abroad

What is your opinion towards the Cardboard Mailer with Bubble Wrap compared to the boxes
The boxes I found was better than the cardboard mailer
But in saying that I found from a security point of view boxes was to easy to steal the contents if someone wanted to do so compared to a cardboard mailer

The cardboard mailer has more risk of getting damage with dents most likely to happen
If using bubble wrap prevents this then I would be ok with this

The white box with bubble wrap is fine and I would consider ordering from them again.

I don't know how they will get bubble wrap in the cardboard mailer and keep the width within large letter limitations, which was the original reason they removed the thicker foam from the boxes.

I got two deliveries from Zavvi today in cardboard mailers with bubble-wrap round the SteelBooks and while both appear to be undamaged the bubble-wrap was only just big enough to fit round them.

I will have deliveries next week and as long as they arrive ok with no dents or paint chips I will be happy
If using bubble wrap does this that's fine with me but if its not going to protect the steelbooks then of course I will be not happy and will be contacting zavvi
I have not done so yet contacted zavvi as so far not had any serious damage with the cardboard mailers but I will if I see damages happen with the future orders to arrive

I have only have had damaged steelbooks on 2 occasions with zavvi and both were minor out of over 200 deliveries and most of these deliveries were steelbooks from them
one was in the white box and one was the cardboard mailer both were minor dents which is not bad I might have just been lucky of course

The worst damaged steelbook I ever got was from a amazon.de third party seller that was very bad as in destroyed

i received my TED steelbook yesterday from Zavvi in a card A1 mailer yesterday with bubblewrap. Initially my heart sank when i saw it on the doormat but it was intact, despite the box looking pretty battered!
got Sunshine coming today. hopefully in one piece also. Personally, i still favour the boxes with the foam but at least Zavvi are putting some protection in.

also received sunshine the day after, also with bubblewrap. thing are looking hopeful.....
