I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

And again, this is not the first time this happened.

I am really sorry to let you know that we have had to cancel your order for Heat - Steelbook Edition because our suppliers were unable to provide it.

I understand how disappointing this might be. We have tried other suppliers but we have not had any luck. We will be removing the item from our website as soon as possible.

Moony

I have sent off a query about my Jungle Book order which I placed on the 18th and stuck on processing.
It has since sold out but I am sure they will say it is no longer available (yet was still available to order for several hours after and even on their play.com link the following day). Lets see what happens if they do decide to reply.

I believe that's because there has been a change to the Distance Selling Regulations giving you a 14 day cooling off period instead of 7 days.

Yep i work in a law firm and we have had to change it to 14 days also for our clients to cancel. I think it started on the 13th June.

I received a response to my order query. As suspected they have told me the item is out of stock (which I can see now) but queried why it has taken several days to get a response from which I had to initiate. In addition, why was it still showing as available for at least a day after I ordered?:angry:

In addition, the chap mentioned whether I want to wait for the title return or cancel. I don't think I will wait but I also mentioned about being charged already for this. Let see what happens here as the last time they made a cock up and it took two months or so before I saw my money back.

Sent Zavvi a FB Message:
Can you comment on how the Exclusive SteelBooks for Alice in Wonderland and Jungle Book were packaged for shipment? Hopefully they weren't in the A1 cardboard mailers like V for Vendetta. Otherwise I fear there will be a lot of damaged product out there. Thanks!

Their reply:
I can now advise that our warehouse will package all items in sufficient packaging to make sure that they arrive with you in the best condition possible.

it's the hot topic these days and everybody's asking about and complaining, but is there an official Zavvi response about this new "boxes" adoption?

I can't believe they stay silent, giving a f*** about the quite universal horrible feedbacks they're getting back on those new packagings.

I really feel powerless and angry.
Do our zavvi contacs here have any kind of official news? Can you please force them a bit for a direct and transparent response? Thanks.

that "sufficient packaging" doesn't sound so promising...

I agree. It might just mean the layer of foam they meant to put in the mailers. I hope not but I guess we'll see in a day or two when the UKers start getting their shipments ;)

And I just got a message now saying that they WERE able to get more from their suppliers so i should reorder it if I want it.

Great, except for the one they cancelled, I used a 10% code and had it in a combined order to save on shipping. And in trying to make a new order, the ENG code won't work on it for some reason either. Why can't they just reinstate the order so I can get it for the price I originally ordered it for?

Because now they may get more money out of you? Probably the reason they cancelled it in the first place. Separate orders = more p&p charges for non UK customers. That would be a nice little money earner. Lol

Well I wrote them today regarding the damaged steel I received today and also mentioned the packaging and the increase in damaged steels.

Just got this reply:

Regarding the packaging we use, we are currently trying out new methods of delivering our parcels and your feedback is welcomed.

We understand numerous copies of steelbooks are sent and we are working hard to resolve this issue.

If there is anything else that we can help with, then please let us know and a member of our team will be happy to help.

Kind regards,

Daniel

That "sent" was probably meant to state "damaged" I guess. Anyway, while not really all that useful, at least they didn't ignore it and instead gave at least some response. Hopefully it's a step in the right direction.

I have 2 orders with steelbooks that are sold out that will be dispatching in the next month, but I got a new Visa issued from my bank and the Zavvi site doesn't allow me to change the payment card on my orders! Will Zavvi give me a chance to correct the card when my old card declines or will Zavvi cancel the order automatically?
I got a response from Zavvi customer service saying I would have a chance to correct the payment method when my old card doesn't go through, however, sometimes their responses are inaccurate, so I wanted to get second verification on this forum. Has anyone on here been in a similar scenario?

It will be like a lottery as to if you get a mint one. The white boxes were so much better, looks like the mailers are here to stay.

If that really is the case, resulting in well over 20% of every future steelbook arriving in the condition several hundred V's did then it's time a group of UK collectors got together and contacted Trading Standards on mass.

A company selling extremely limited and fairly expensive items till they are completely sold out with none kept for replacing damaged ones, then dispatched in substandard mailers IS something TS are interested in.

Mail ordering can always result in the odd damaged item arriving, but a company that willfully and knowingly sends out non replaceable products on mass on that level is getting very close to TS being able to step in and tear that company a new one!

All my orders are cancelled with them as the answers they gave on the problem were frankly insulting. My partner ordered this for me as a present, if it arrives less than perfect I will seriously loose it!
