I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

Don't think bundeling orders is a good option, as in this case EVERY order will exceed the 25 € limit where VAT will not be collected. In addition, if the total value exceeds 150 € an extra toll fee will be charged on top.

I'd say about 80% of the German steelbooks are well below 20 € which makes the Zavvi steels already quite expensive. If you add another 5 € VAT to each of them if shipped together the price will increase to about 30 € each! That's almost double of the price of domestic steels making them less attractive to collectors. Not to mention that each order has to be picked up at the customs office which means a 20 km drive and sometimes up to 30 min standing in line. No steel on earth is worth that! So if they bundle the shippings they can forget about my orders.

what I don´t get is the lack of support of this forum against Zavvi
they´re supposedly "good friends" with various "insiders" posting "1st hand" information so at least 1 person seems to be in close contact/getting info/talking to someone over there on a regular schedule..
..excuse me if I am wrong (and maby those "insiders" are getting ignored as well) .. but I haven´t seen much happening regarding this issue except the few posts stating it´s a "new packaging trial" which supposedly ended some time ago.. + someone posted info from Zavvi they´ve got the white boxes again and will switch back shipping out in those again... yet they´re still shipping out in the very same crappy A1 mailer packaging despite info from that "insider" and CS they´d use "sufficient" packaging,.. most likely they´ve been talking about the toilet-paper "foam" I guess...

why doesn´t this forum have a seperate topic just on this packaging issue?
why not create another topic for people to post just the pictures of all the damaged SteelBooks that have arrived already..
why not another one for people to post all the orders they have cancelled because of this issue..?

THAT is info Zavvi needs to see...
from what is happening for the past 5 or 6 weeks it is VERY CLEAR they don´t give a flying eff about their customers and couldn´t care less about the damaged SteelBooks so I guess the only thing that counts is MONEY.. hit em where it hurts...

why isn´t this forum telling them that if this issue isn´t resolved IMMEDIATELY they´ll no longer support them and their SteelBook releases?

why is page 1 of this topic still showing the old packaging with an old update they´ll ship in the white boxes again... that is CLEARLY NOT HAPPENING!!

page 1 should have another update they´re shipping in A1 mailers warning people that there´s a good chance their SteelBook will arrive damaged

I really wish at least some of this would be happening...

I am extremely angry that Zavvi.com have returned to using flimsy card wallets like they used to before the boxes were introduced! This is the kind of packaging we rallied against, and is NOT adequate packaging for PREMIUM SteelBook releases!

In addition, if multiple items are all being dispatched to the same address at the same time, why doesn't Zavvi consolidate them all in one larger box like Amazon does?

This is how I received this week's forthcoming releases:

Ten different SteelBook releases, all packaged in the old-style card wallets (the bands are applied by the Royal Mail who delivered them like this). The wallets themselves were barely intact, with splits at the seams and on the corners! A wafer thin piece of foam offering absolutely no protection whatsoever was also found inside, although what purpose it serves in such lame packaging is anyone's guess!

What were Zavvi thinking? With such a busy release window they most likely thought they'd ship these out as quickly and as cheaply as possible, with absolutely NO REGARD as to the protection or security of what's inside!

Had this from Zavvi today - the new "improved" packaging they were talking about perhaps? A little bit of bubble wrap instead of the wafer thin foam.

Thankfully, it doesn't look like the Steelbook is damaged.

Do you think they care about yet another thread? They didn't care about the numerous enquiries addressed directly to them / their customer support. They didn't care about complains about dented steelbooks and claimed refunds either. And they don't care to keep tellng us how happy they would be to help us again if we still have further queries. Why do I have the feeling that actual queries don't make them happy? :p

What I find rather frustrating over this whole packaging fiasco is the complete silence from the HDN insiders who apparently have close links to Zavvi :dunno:

Is anyone from HDN actually in communication with Zavvi about this packaging issue ?. Some sort of update would be much appreciated ;)

2 words - affiliate income

That is incorrect-HDN is a news site, so all releases will be covered in our threads, regardless of retailer as members want to stay informed about what is new. We can't force any retailer to change their policies. As we've posted many times, feedback has been and continues to be shared regularly with all retailers. However, it is up to the retailer to decide what packaging and customer service system they will use. The 'fall out' if customers are unhappy will continue to come with responses here, and complaints & returns to the retailer, as it should. In the meantime, we are customers of Zavvi and other Steelbook retailers ourselves, and always advocate improvement if we have the opportunity. Hopefully there is a chance coming in the future in regards to packaging and some of their processes, and in the meantime, your voice should continue to be made heard to any retailer that is not meeting your expectations.

We work on many things behind the scenes for your benefit, but there is no sense in posting publicly what we are discussing until we have a definitive answer.

Yes. And, see above.

If something comes to fruition past these brown mailers then obviously we would inform ... since we dont do this "full-time" you need to give us time. ;) and we are not miracle workers.

Many thanks for the feedback Wreck ;).

I remember the hard work that everyone at HDN put in to improve Zavvi's packaging after the demise of Play.com so I live in hope that things will improve.

I just don't understand why Zavvi have stopped using the white boxes that everyone at HDN fought so hard to get in the 1st place.

That just doesn't make any sense :wtf:

My only guess is how most companies make something , then they try to find out how to make it cheaper to increase profits. Just a guess ... but we're hoping for options.

SPOT ON , why change what was working and get into loads of refunds and bad posts from customers.
My dealings with Zavvi have fallen on deaf ears and I have spoken on the phone to the head of customer service and was offered to be spoken to in person if I visited their office.

The point is and will be ... The numbers dont lie. So if they ship out a run of a 2k steel for instance and have just as many refunds/damages as they did of a 2k steel in white boxes then what would that mean to you?

I say this because that is what they did ... and that was without the foam (which was a mishap) Inside Llewn Davis.

So if the numbers continue to stay the same then I doubt they would switch back to white boxes. Other things are being discussed.

But only they see the numbers, so I'm sure whatever they choose will be something that "works" for them and they are not in a business to lose money as no business is. So wild guess is if the numbers raise up we'll see a return of white boxes, or that damaged steel in a brown mailer with bubble/foam would have been damaged if also in a white box. *Shrug*

My fiasco with V for Vendetta steelbook cost them nearly £50 in loss of profits alone.

First one damaged complained hard enough with threats of going over to their office to shove it somewhere and trading standards action.

Second copy sent without returning the first damaged one , second arrived opened without seal again no return was asked for and then £14.99 sent back into my account.

2 x Steelbooks + £14.99 refund !!

I would hate to see how much money Zavvi have lost in damages over a yearly period as it would make most people's eyes water and that's not counting all the cost of the collect + return labels etc.

If this was my business I would be very worried EEK!
