Current packaging is a cardboard mailer with the steelbook usually wrapped in either a layer of bubble wrap or foam

I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

1/19/2013 Member Nyvo tweeted Zaavi about packaging concerns. They said they may be looking into alternate packaging methods.

A define improvement over the original WWA.
Zavvi definitely know what steelbooks are their money makers, so I'm not surprised so many Marvel ones have been announced!

Zavvi is not making money on steelbooks. Why do you think they did this wave at these prices? They are left holding a bag of low priced steels nobody wants because so many of their customers quit buying them because of their antics.

It's clear that Zavvi are really trying to assert themselves as the best supplier of Marvel themed steelbooks, but this does raise a couple of annoyances. Firstly, people are already spoilt for choice when it comes to Marvel releases, so yet another wave is pretty much overkill. Secondly it is maddening that Zavvi would put so much effort into Marvel releases when they neglect pretty much every other genre (except maybe Disney/Pixar type films) - is it too much to ask that they give other types of films the same level of love and attention? The standard of art (on the front at least) is generally excellent for this wave. Imagine the recent Nick Cage releases done to this standard as just one example...

The way Zavvi run their steelbook range doesn't even make financial sense. Yes the Marvel releases all sell out, but nearly every other release ends up having a massive price cut, and so you wonder how they even make any profit when so many titles end up being sold for 6 to 8 pounds each. Great art & finish = Great sales. It really is that simple, so why can't Zavvi understand that?

Having a friggin nightmare with Zavvi atm.

I made an order for 2 steels, but 1 min after i canceled it.
But after 1½-2 days they still ship the damn canceled order and ofc they arrive at home.
So, I ask for a free return label and they give me one. Founds out that it doesnt work in Sweden so I ask for some other free return label that I can use. Now the **** starts.
They tell me I should ship the steels back and ill get a 10% refund for the postage. LOL? Forget it! I tell them its unacceptable and they ask me for prices. I tell them whats up (and its not cheap) so the next answer i get is that they want me to keep the steelbooks and ill get a 20% refund for them! FEKK JUU Zavvi, take it up the bum! Its not my fault they sent me a canceled order. So I told them i want a free return label and full refund for the steelbooks, or just refund the steelbooks fully and be done with it...

Lets see what they want to fukk me over with next.

They still haven't cancelled zbox subscription we asked them to do almost a week ago and when I emailed again they said they'll let me when the cancellation has been successful?? WTF?
Just cancel it like anything else :(

I think it's been more than a year since Zavvi's ordering system changed so that you can't cancel in-stock items once you've placed an order. They enter the shipment pipeline immediately in the ordering system.

Of course nobody starts packing them right away, but that's just the way the Z-juggernaut works.

Before that change, you had a short window (half an hour or so) to cancel in-stock items when the order was still in "Order placed" stage.

IIRC, one could take advantage of that to order items with a "multiple item" discount and then immediately cancel the order. The in-stock items were cancelled, but pre-order items were then sold at the discount, even though the multiple item discount no longer really applied.

That could be why the processing was changed for in-stock items.

I just went through this with them to no avail. Got the same runaround. Cancelled very very quickly when it said PROCESSING REQUEST, not even AWAITING STOCK PICK and they still shipped the steelbooks. Out $80 for those unless I find buyers.

Ordered a voucher last night and at the checkout it said delivered in 3o mins :whistle: Still hasn't arrived :rolleyes:

Does anyone who how long these normally take to be emailed as I've never ordered one before .:thumbs:
 
I missed out on the other GOTG releases and can't wait for this one. I don't mind when they release it but I would like to know so that I don't miss out . Sooner rather than later so I don't spend the rest of my life refreshing the pre-order page lol

zavvi likes to play games... in stock out of stock back in stock , price drops after a few weeks if it does not do well .. they dont honor the lower price for collectors who pre order......and then you have to buy their overpriced zbox garbage lol .. may be one of the uk ninjas might have a better idea when it goes live uk standard time.

Ah man, Zavvi sucks. If the price changes during pre-order then surely they would honour that? Or does that just never happen? lol. I got one Zbox that they refuse to cancel. I have to flag them with my bank. Never again.

Yeah they did that to me as well, I couldnt cancel a few steelbook that I ordered on the same day minutes apart.. the next day they say it's been dispacthed lol, yet they apologise for the long wait on their end for john carter ..lol... Gluc with your z box

They eventually canceled my Zbox after a million messages.

They failed to turn up to their own midnight launch of 'marvel day' and didn't produce any deals like they are pretending to have at the moment.

They released a 10% code for Marvel Day to some people that was supposed to work for first 300 customers and it just didn't/doesn't work at all.

Here is Zavvi on facebook assuring me of the midnight launch and telling a few people to be ready for the launch. Yet they didn't show up themselves.. Haha

Are there people here that have experience with asking for a replacement copy?

My Hobbit Battle of the Five Armies jumbo steel arrived with 2 small dents, but when I opened it I saw that once side of the spine was teared to the middle of the steelbook.
Last time I got a damaged copy of a steelbook I needed to send it back. Shipping from NL back to the UK is expansive, and than they didn't give me a new one, no they gave my money back (after 2 months) which was €2,00 more than I needed to ship it back.

This jumbo is even going to cost me more to send back....

Are there people that got a replacement copy for their damaged steelbook withoud sending it back to Zavvi?
 
Ah Zavvi, I fell for one of your Black Friday week flash deals earlier in the week and now you have the same item today for £5 less; will I never learn? :bag:

Afternoon update - Zavvi (lack of) Customer Services have advised me to cancel the order (which has already been despatched) as they are unable to amend it :facepalm:

What are Zavvi like when it comes to returning an unwanted item? I've only ever had to return damaged items, which is tough enough... but I've heard stories of them refusing to allow people to return perfectly good items to them unless the customer pays the return fees themselves. :ohno:
 
Regarding Price deals with Zavvi anytime I've purchased a pre-order in which the price was lower than the final price they honoured it. The same with flash deals. Never had any problems in that score. I would check my account to make sure what they were taking out was what was stipulated on the receipt.
