Really angry  with zavvi right now. Why offer a Pre-order Price Promise when they don`t keep it. Just recently zavvi reduced all the Euro prices for almost all Steelbooks. I contacted them and asked if my items on pre-order would receive the lower price when they ship and was told that I would receive the lower price if the Item has the Pre-order Price Promise. All Steelbook Pre-order Items have this promise. A few days ago I got the shipping confirmation for my Taxi Driver and Close Encounters Steelbooks. Shipping confirmation and Account both showed the old price of 18,75 Euro, which is 1,50 Euro more than the new 17,25 Euro price. For some reason the Pre-order Price Promise was removed from both titles (I guess because they start shipping). I asked about the problem and was told that the account sometimes does not update and that I should check with my bank to see if I was charged the lower price. I just received my monthly Credit Card noticed and it shows that I was charged the higher price of 18,75 Euro. I never assumed something else. I contacted them again and I hope that I will get a refund now. Anyway I have spent the last hour to cancel orders and reorder them for the new lower price, so that I don`t have to waist any time over this again when the other items ship.

So great Pre-order Price Promise  zavvi, what a joke.

Just wanted to give an update on my problem. I received an answer from zavvi and was told that I would receive a refund of the difference. This would take 3-4 days. They are sorry that I was not charged the lowest price. Now we only have to see if I will really get the refund.

Looks like I was not the only one who was charged the higher price. It seems this was the same for all Euro orders. I guess the main problem was that the GBP price was not reduced only the Euro price. Must be a bug in the system and nobody noticed this.

Zavvi have a number of great looking steelbooks, but they've gotten a little ridiculous with the sheer amount of new steelbooks. Many don't really look all that great. Still, I hope they do well, because as said, many look great.

I am yet to notice price drop on Zavvi exclusive Steelbooks released so far. I think their warehouse is going to explode soon if they don't do any stock clearance sales.

Regardiing pre-order price promise, I would suggest paying in GBP and get the price drop and shield yourselves from fluctuating exchange rates.

I agree, nothing they have thats exclusive has dropped even £1. Ridiculous, they are literally going to leave them all sitting idle on their site until all 4000+ have been sold. Good luck with a few of those....

It is a blood bath with few Zavvi titles at eBay. Some of them have been selling for 60% of their price. Due to this I have decided to only pre-order the ones that I think is worthy and try my luck in eBay.

When I say worthy it means what it is worth to me.

A new release is completely different to back catalogue releases and Disney titles. Maybe it is time to stop tarring every release with your Zavvi hating brush?

I fail to understand why new releases are different. A release is a release and each will have pros and con's. You throw around the label "Zavvi hater" in every thread when people are critical about any Zavvi release, yet this goes on in every other thread like people complaining about German and French titles e.t.c. STOP HATE MONGERING

That price ...
I'm expecting a 49.99 steelbook from Zavvi in the future (without 3D of course)

I was gonna post something similar. It is fascinatingly amazing how their exclusive price continues upwards.

I bet a chart graph would look more ridiculous than the US housing market in 2006. :hilarious:

Maybe it's time to stop arguing with everyone who says they don't like something about Zavvi and give valid points and/or opinions which you can't argue with facts, just your Zavvi loving brush.

You mean facts like 'this will end up a one disc edition' which is nothing but speculation? I think you'll find my opinion is entirely based on facts and not based on a negative opinion of Zavvi. I also don't love Zavvi, I only really respond to the ridiculous amounts of criticism they undeservedly get.

Does anyone know the reason behind placeholder prices? All it does is cause unnecessary posts of complaints even though most know its not the final price. And If it just a placeholder, why does it have to be so high? Just riles people up for no reason. Genuine questions that I would like to know the answer to.

It's probably just the recommended retail price, though why they don't just list up for the actual selling price I have no idea.

These placeholder prices are obviously not the final price but they do give an indication as to the ballpark figure. If something is listed at £19.99 it will likely drop to £14.99. I think looking at this figure it will be between £20-24 but that is just guesswork.;)

I would've thought the same, but The Game and Twelve Monkeys have been reduced from £24.99 to £14.99, so it's very possible this will be under £20.

I never said he had facts.
He made an assumption based on most of Zavvi's releases being 1 disc.
He has no facts but he made an opinion with something to back it up.
You are arguing with no facts (that it will be 2 discs) just your opinion based on it being a different studio.

If not liking some things that Zavvi do mean you're a "Zavvi hater" Then I think sticking up for them makes you a "Zavvi lover"

You're not wrong but neither was he.
I think you're a hypocrite and as you saw in a previous thread there is some of evidence of that, at least as strong as your evidence that it's Disney and not Zavvi.
If you're gonna call people out when they don't like something about Zavvi then i'll call you out when I disagree with what you have to say. This forum is about opinions good or bad. There are a lot of opinions that I don't like but I don't call them all out because that is there prerogative.

Well, probably in 2 months each new exclusive steelbook from Zavvi will be listed with a price higher than the budget of the movie itself.

Exactly, it is all opinions. It's just that some members like to base their opinion on nothing other than a dislike for Zavvi. There's a huge difference between "not liking some things" and posting a negative comment about Zavvi every time a new Steelbook is announced.

Yes it's all opinions and I would have no problem with yours if you didn't call people out by calling them "Zavvi haters" and acting like your evidence is superior to others.
You don't reply to "Zavvi sucks" comments... you reply to "£24 is too much for a single blu-ray" and "I don't like the artwork" the latter something you do but it's okay for you to do it because you stick up for their prices.
Did you find negative comments in threads such as "Taxi driver" I doubt it, not from me anyway, because for a high profile film at £15 with unique embossing people don't "hate"
Your opinion is it's Disney forcing Zavvi to charge £24 because Disney charge a lot... (Disney hater) you used evidence like Amazon amaray for £20.50... check the price now, and check other stores now. Others have argued with a lot more logic... comparing steelbook prices with other UK stores and the steelbook mark up, the prices started off lower on Zavvi, Zavvi selling for more on ebay.... here's another "HMV Cars 2, + send off for free dvd" = £15... and sure you will come up with other excuses for that... it doesn't matter because people should have the right to say what they don't like about a release, that's what they do and you always have to call them out cos you disagree.
And what you don't understand is people complain about Zavvi prices and artworks because they want them to change... not because it's cool.
Even if Disney are ripping off Zavvi... we still don't like Zavvi charging what they do... so when we say it's not a fair price... it's still not a fair price... so if enough "haters hate" then Zavvi should go to Disney and tell them all the "haters" feedback.
If a low class restaurant charged high prices because their supplier charged a lot... do you expect people to complain about the supplier or the restaurant charging you the prices?!
You called me out the first time I said £24 was too much for a single disc. If i'm not allowed to comment and give my opinion to try and change Zavvi's prices, service or artwork then I will stop clicking on the HDN links for my many "Zavvi hating" Zavvi orders.
It is my opinion that you are a hypocrite, Zavvi lover and Disney hater.

Well it's an opinion, generally you believe your opinion is the right one, that's how they work.

You don't reply to "Zavvi sucks" comments... you reply to "£24 is too much for a single blu-ray" and "I don't like the artwork" the latter something you do but it's okay for you to do it because you stick up for their prices.

You'll probably find it's the same few people I keep responding to.

Your opinion is it's Disney forcing Zavvi to charge £24 because Disney charge a lot... (Disney hater) you used evidence like Amazon amaray for £20.50... check the price now, and check other stores now. Disney have historically charged a lot for their titles, that is a fact. You also can't compare a release from years ago to what Disney are doing today. Things have changed quite a bit (increased postage prices, closing of the VAT loophole, £0.99 International shipping, the fact that Steelbooks are now seen as a cash cow etc.), and the quality of Steelbook is much higher now. If they were still doing Steelbooks with quality equal to that of Cars 2, I certainly wouldn't be buying them.

If a low class restaurant charged high prices because their supplier charged a lot... do you expect people to complain about the supplier or the restaurant charging you the prices?!

I would complain and vow not to go back. I wouldn't keep going back and keep complaining.

You called me out the first time I said £24 was too much for a single disc. If i'm not allowed to comment and give my opinion to try and change Zavvi's prices, service or artwork then I will stop clicking on the HDN links for my many "Zavvi hating" Zavvi orders.

I apologise if you were offended, but like you say, it's an opinion and we should all be allowed to express our opinions.

It is my opinion that you are a hypocrite, Zavvi lover and Disney hater.

I would complain and vow not to go back. I wouldn't keep going back and keep complaining.

It depends on the film, artwork, finish, print run and price whether we think it's a good deal or not... not all releases are the same, no one I've seen you complain about just goes on every Zavvi release to complain about Zavvi.
You said they/we hate on every thread, which is not true, just the few they/we have problems with and like I said, you called me out the first time I said £24 was too much for 1 disc and I rarely make other complaints.

You talk about "Disney historically" and then say I can't talk about prices from a couple of years ago???!
Want me talk about recent... What is the difference between Nemo and Monsters? What has changed in the last few months that for one high finish, new, popular release to cost £17 and the other £24?

Yes they are a cash cow, that's why they want to charge more, that's why I want them to see that I/we don't think they are fair prices. That's why I don't order certain titles, hope they don't sell well and hope they change.
If it's about quality, I don't see why often i'm charged the same price for a lot of gloss and good embossing to a basic finish, and if a DVD is worth nothing then why they won't include one.

I don't believe for a second that a high print run, single disc 2D steelbook they are not getting more than a fair share of profit, Disney and Zavvi. But if they want me and others like me to order then I think they should look it over which they won't do if no one complains.

Express your opinion... but don't complain about people not liking artwork and then complain about artworks. Don't call someone a Zavvi hater. Or do call them a Zavvi hater and I will call you a Zavvi lover.

So what you're really saying is that you are annoyed about a comment I made on one of your posts and you're still crying about it? As for 'Zavvi haters' posting in every thread, yes there are a couple of members who do just that. If you can't see it, then you must not actually be reading the threads.

For the sake of every other member, I am adding you to my ignore list. I think that is the best way forward otherwise this is going to keep going on and on.

No, what I was saying is... you're full of crap, saying "I only really respond to the ridiculous amounts of criticism they undeservedly get." and "it's the same few people I keep responding to"
No there is no one that you respond to that posts "hate" on "every thread"
What I do see is you damn near always, having a go every time anyone says they don't like one thing about Zavvi, basically you complain about people complaining... and you complain more than anyone on here.

Yeah you do go on and on, and you're full of it.
If it hurts your feelings, me saying £24 for 1 disc is a rip off then yes you better ignore me.

I'm sorry to other members who are not interested in this... the reason I have kept responding is because I see him constantly starting arguments taking up threads... I have no problem with him having a different opinion but don't call people "Zavvi haters" when they don't like a particular release because of the artwork or price, and don't be a hypocrite by complaining yourself.

Seeing as I have patched up my differences with Zavvi and got an apology, I might order some Steelbooks from them if there is discount code out for August
