I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

They still have not posted what the delay is in all the recent steelbooks. There is no excuse or defending this action. Its not too hard to acknowledge on FB or Twitter that there is a delay. They do not even mention it. Horrible company

Please advise which steelbooks are delayed as I've received all 6/4 steelbooks ordered except for "Avengers Assemble" for which I had dispatch confirmation two days ago. Of course it's great to have them before release date but what's a few days delay between friends (if these are the ones referred to)?
I'd appreciate release dates for "Frankenweenie" (release date 6/4?) or "Don't Look Now" (release date 13/4?) so if anybody knows anything ...

Horns was delayed for almost 2 weeks with no notice, Frankenweenie almost 2 weeks now, and there was another, But I did not order that one so I cant remember the name.

Today I received 'The Big Blue' steelbook from Zavvi.
Sent across the atlantic in a flimsy A1 document mailer

I thought we were so over this already !

Now I've got a dented steelbook, front and back then 2 more on the sides.
I hope this is not the start of another flimsy A1 mailer shipping era !

...

King Kong also came in A1 mailer and it was the first time for me.

Rocky arrived damaged, but gladly I got refund very quickly and Zavvi has been very generous to me after the 3 weeks of battle we had. For the first time I'm getting the kind of customer service I've always wanted. This week they have actually listened to me.

Now, here's the dilemma that none of us has addressed yet

With the advent of Zavvi's latest outing into sharp business practice, Those who have pre-ordered a Zavvi exclusive sit on the horns of a dilemma.

Do you A. Keep the pe-order in case Zavvi up the ante and mark it up to fifty quid, or the 'bargain' twenty quid plus the dreaded Zed box?

Or do you B. Cancel in the hope that Zavvi do NOT pull a fast one with this title (whichever it is) and hope it goes through the regular price reductions due to the fact that the market is over-saturated?

And remember - just because it is SOLD OUT - does not mean Zavvi will not ressurect via cancellations to flog it for fifty quid - then again, it may go on sale for the regular price.

This is known in the trade as 'having them by the short and curlies' :)

Received two steelbooks from Zavvi today. Both in the white boxes, but both damaged (one more badly dented than the other).

Ho, hum - here we go again contacting "Customer Services" who, after a few days, will offer me a paltry partial refund first then, once I refuse, after another few says, a replacement or refund. They could learn SO much from real customer-service orientated companies like Amazon...

Just remember - do NOT send them photos.

You are under NO OBLIGATION whatsoever to play their game!

If they insist on photos tell them your camera is broken and you can't afford a new one or some such.

They assume that everyone they deal with is a moron and doesn't know their consumer rights - don't indulge their fantasies.

We all know that "Every little helps" so I was wondering if anybody here knows if there are any more of those excellent Zavvi discount codes around to replace the expired vouchc5?

Anyone know what this Marvel event thing is? Only thing I've seen is the thread DB has opened (and then locked).

I have a nasty feeling that they will release the holdback of the recent animated ones, plus the holdback of the Avengers Assemble and tie them to Zed box purchase - and tell you you're getting a bargain!!

As an aside, did anyone else get a "We Miss You" email from them this morning with a click through extra 10% off for 48 hours?

I pre-order if I'm happy with the price.

I'm selective with my steelbook purchases, so it's not like I pick up each and every tittle by any retailer. As a general rule I always go for the cheapest and/or easiest option and I'm not interested in added slips/lenticular magnets and so on.

Some I pre-order (basically the titles I really care about) and others I'll wait for a price drop. If no price drop occurs then so be it, they weren't ones I really wanted anyway. While I fully disagree with their practice of doubling the price after release or packaging a title up with a Z-box, it's never effected me personally. I guess it makes good financial sense, but is a bit of a kick in the teeth to genuine collectors who couldn't secure a copy because of scalpers or customers who ordered 'just in case'.

If Zavvi did things a bit better, such as say, pre-order for £14.99, buy on release day for £19.99 or wait for a sale six months later (assuming a title didn't sell out) there would be a lot more positive feeling towards them. This is generally what Amazon and HMV do, and what the customer expects. Let the likes of Ebay deal with huge price increases.
