I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

This is the worst place I ever ordered something from...

- Package arrives 20 days after estimated date.
- Packaging is the worst ever, just thin cardboard and my steelbook got a dent.
- The site uses bribery to make you remove your negative feedback. Pathetic.

hm, sounds very promising so far

however the cardboard of the collectors edition seems really sturdy, so how bad can it possibly end up ?

I've ordered two box sets from The Hut, who are the same company as Zavvi and both of them arrived in these bubble wrap kind of bags/envelopes and no damage to the items. Allow at least a week for delivery though from the dispatch time.

i think i'll risk it - thanks :)

my children of men steel arrived today in the form of a banana... totally damaged, never saw something like that before.

I've got 3 in the mail, which are my first steelbook orders from Zavvi. I've received steels before that have just been in jiffy bags, or those thin cardboard mailers that leave them totally exposed. Thus far I have been fortunate enough to receive undamaged copies on those occasions.

Finally received my Premium Collection copies of Blade Runner, Sherlock Holmes and The Last Samurai from Zavvi this morning, all in separate thin cardboard mailers, and all in perfect condition

Their whole operation just seems so slow and incredibly frustrating. Generally, I'm lucky if I get replies to queries within 48 hours. I sent a damaged copy of Man on Fire back to them and it was received on the 18th of February. I just this morning received a dispatch notice for a replacement. The new copy isn't estimated to arrive until the 11th March. That's a 3 week turn around, providing it arrives on time, for replacing a damaged order, despite the item being listed as 'In Stock' on their website the whole time.
Who'da thunk it... It's actually arrived on the 11th, the estimated arrival date! Still arrived in a thin cardboard envelope though!

You have to be lucky to get a perfect steel from them.

I dont understand why they dont change their packaging? The costs for a bubble wrap envelop and some extra bubblewrap for the steels wouldn't cost that mutch...

ordered like 10 steels from zavvi in the last few weeks, only 2 of them where mint, i kept the steelis with minor issues like little scratches and shipped back the totaly damaged banana steels.

It really depends where you live;) I ordered several steels to germany and every single one was in mint condition. I mean look at this package... It looks like your postman put it under his car and drove over it;)
