I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

I bought a couple of WFRR steels from Zavvi by paypal ages ago - the day they tried to take the funds I was a few £ short....so what do they do....cancel my order even though I said previously I'd pay by debit card instead.

Very disappointed.

They don't like they are as 'reuseable' friendly as Play's ones used to be either (looks like you have to rip a strip down the edge like Amazons) :hilarious:

Thanks for yet more great images Zesty... the new packaging looks fantastic! A big thanks to Zavvi for listening to us, and also to Wreck for convincing them how important decent packaging benefits everyone. :scat:

I could have opened it kind of the same way the Play ones do but I wanted it open to see, I'll try harder with the others didn't even open the twin that came with it today EEK!

Looks like Large Letter (UK guys know what this is) size :scat:

A big improvement over the A4 mailers and Fiffy bags

I'll test that tomorrow but TBH they do bulge out at the big flat surfaces quite alot when sealed :D

Ah, got you...There's a flap like Play's...Great if safe to re-use and cheaper for postage within the UK :scat:

Like a tummy and bum :hilarious:

Have to wait till I get one then "deconstruct" it for re-using purposes. There's always a way around things like that. :D

Yeah looks like they're trying to make it Large Letter size, trouble is Small Packet being done away with at beginning of April so there's no benefit other than a smaller box. Looks good though.

Compared to the Play packaging it isn't as good but at the same time a hell of alot better :D

And thankfully postbox friendly, so handy for someone like myself who is out at work when the postman comes. As much as my neighbours say they dont mind taking in Amazons chunky, protective but postbox unfriendly packages, I just know after a few weeks they will be thinking ''Oh ffs, not another bloody parcel for next door' lol

This was the handy thing about Play and HMV, postbox friendly packaging and if it was a few from a wave shipped in a box, Saturday deliveries for preorders were an advantage as Im in, but now with Amazon getting the bulk of my orders its a pain ordering stuff knowing its not gonna arrive before release so no Saturday deliveries, and it will be in a package that wont fit through the letterbox when it does, so depending on prices and service of course, maybe I might shift some orders to zavvi for convenience and the sake of neighbourly harmony...

I am glad to hear this, as I don't want my black Star Trek to show up like a warped Enterprise :hilarious: Sounds like Zavvi have turned a corner...and good thing, because with the feedback we all collectively give generally about different Steelbook aspects, I am sure they wouldn't want to receive hundreds of fiery e-mails #duckbehindcraptasticpackages :boobies: Lord knows I've seen my share of nonsense HMV and previous Zavvi packaging (something that resembles a ziplock back, sent across the pond), so I am thrilled to hear there are now boxes in play. Woot! :scat:

It's indeed good to see similar packaging treatment like play.com's. And it's quite clear that rest of the Steelbook releases will have the same packaging. But I had ordered Black hawk down steel on 7th March, I am yet to receive it. I wonder what type packaging it will have.

Also, Are you guys familiar with trackmail.co.uk ? What is that ? It sure does not look like shipping company, more like a tracking website only. And All my orders from zavvi and thehut are traceable from that website only.
Which courier zavvi actually uses for international deliveries?

Just tried it and it is indeed large letter size albeit a VERY tight fit through the RM template ;)

Also managed to open the box to make it re useable ai it can be done :D

Just got my 1st delivery from Zavvi with the new packaging.

So, yes, clearly better than previous efforts with the Jiffy bags, etc, but not a patch on Play's fantastic boxes.

IMHO these are no better than the HMV boxes in that, under normal delivery circumstances, they should be fine, but if mishandled they won't offer much more protection. The foam layer is so thin as to be pointless (I'd rather see some bubble wrap).

As for re-useable, probably, if you're careful, but I doubt I'll use them without a layer or three of bubble wrap on the outside (yes, the super cool black stuff!) and not anything of any real value.

Just had my Roger Rabbit delivered and I have to say that the box is a massive step up for Zavvi in terms of packaging but the fact that it bulges out so much due to the foam inside is still a bit worrying. A bigger box would be better. Baby steps I suppose.

That said the steel was mint so all happy here :)

Very good for a first attempt at new packaging. Glad Zavvi are listening and hope they continue to listen and improve.

My WFRR just came this morning as well. I can't remember ever receiving a Zavvi pre-order on the Friday BEFORE release. Used to be the Friday after haha

Bob, you want to look into Amazon's pickup service and delivering your parcels to one of their lockers or pickup locations. I had the same problem with people having to take in parcels for me while at work (and it is a pain for them), and I didn't realise how many Amazon lockers and Pickup locations were close to my place of work. So much more convenient for me now.
