I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

Waited two days for a reason why two steelbooks were sent back for a refund, yet they have only refunded me one and dispatched another steelbook.

After asking the clearly WTF is going on and why confirmed the above, I get a generic email saying their refund time is 3-5 days. (Referring to the one refund, not both)

They have totally ignored what I asked, including speaking to a manager. Can Zavvi staff actually process information!?

Pathetic, how they can take two days to reply and come out with this crap, is beyond me. This company is a joke!

I know how you feel!
After 2 emails stating wanting refund they went ahead and sent me a replacement and even dispatched it today hours after email response! Hopefully the guy I emailed still works there and replies as people over on other forum used same email to complain. Zavvi do have a complaints address but you have to send a letter by mail.

I've had to send a few steels back them and each time they have said we are sending out a replacement even though I have specified refund in both their online form and via email.

It's things like this (along with their amazing lax quality control on sending out damaged items) which make me utterly disillusioned with Zavvi.

Sent off my complaint email.

Update guys, the replacement copy of Evil Dead that I did not ask for, came today. Even worse damage behind the J card than the other two!

BBC Watchdog anyone?

Scary Packaging

Zavvi outlet sent me a steelbook in this mailer, about as thin and 'bubble free' as you can get! Woeful stuff...also slower than a week in jail...took 8 working days to arrive.
Oh... That Jiffy bag is scary :ohno: can anybody who lives outside UK confirm receiving this packaging? The last one that I got was cardboard box but thinner foam padding... i tend to think they would improve that but if this jiffy bag is true then it gets worse... I may need to cancel my big batches of order...
Thanks guys...

Just keeps getting better and better from Zavvi dont it? My copy of End of Watch is plagued with chips and dings. Sent a message 4 days ago and no reply. Shocking stuff.

Got response about my spine-slashed Jungle Book copies. They apologized and offered and 8GBP refund or credit into my next purchase.

I guess they don't have (or don't want to) any spare copies for replacement.

expect a £2 cash or credit offer. Message them back.

Then 3 days later, if you do not want the refund, expect a return label. Post the item, at their nearest collection point, then wait another week. Then chase them for your money.

2 days later:

"your item has been dispatched"

I think its more that its not cost effective for them to pay return shipping fees.

If you refuse the refund, no doubt, you will get to keep the two copies and they will send you another.

Had the checked their stock before posting, there would not be this problem

The technical word is "pissing away money"

Good one! I emailed that Matt dude yesterday, so lets see what happens.

Pleased you got it sorted mate.

That guy not replied to me yet, this was sorted by usual messaging on website thing. I hope the refund does come though. Need to check my online banking next Friday to be sure.

Hope yours gets fixed too!

I wish Zavvi stop releasing all these exclusive steelbooks, would really like to not buy anything from them and don't have to worry everytime I purchase any :(

He is the owner of the Hut group! good find! I also forwarded the email to [email protected] so they could see it.

I hate to sound like I am anti Zavvi, but if you could see the crap I have had to deal with!

Well I have only ever ordered 3 steely from them. Argo, ED and ED2. Only had problem with ED, while the chips may not be zavvi fault the CS is very poor and shocking!

Ordered a Steel through play.com from Zavvi-shipping Date 8/7 -did not receive it- they told me to wait till 8/29-wrote them an E-Mail yesterday asking for a tracking number-no response -i Submited a FairPlay Guarantee Claim - just want what i payed for - nothing more nothing less.

Got my Refund today, that`s okay for me:thumbs:-but,they should send their Steels with tracking Option-still i would like to know where my Steel is right now:(

Its not a complete win for me however as I had ordered 2 copies of ED and the other copy that did arrive has paint chips which I only got a £3 refund for. I may mention that if the person I emailed replies. I doubt the replacement will have any less chips!

The strangest part about Zavvi is that people continue to have these issues. It's obvious from all the releases details, the recent HDN voucher code and the tie ins (HDN choosing artwork etc) that Zavvi do look at this site and try to interact with the staff here.

So it boggles my mind that they continually ignore peoples issues with their production defects and, more importantly, packaging. People have been criticising the Zavvi packaging for a while now and, confusingly, it has actually gotten worse recently rather than better. The wafer thin padding (if you can call it that) that is loosely wrapped around steels now is ludicrous and it's little wonder so many of them turn up damaged.

Surely the money Zavvi save on such flimsy packaging is lost when you take into account all of the refunds and returns they have to process? A more robust distribution and customer service approach would, in my eyes, pretty much eliminate most of the issues people have with Zavvi in the first place.

Luckily most of the steels I've had with them have been undamaged, but I suppose it's only a matter of time.
