Current packaging is a cardboard mailer with the steelbook usually wrapped in either a layer of bubble wrap or foam

I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

It just me or when i insert the code on zavvi for a steelbook it automatically charges 6 euros of shipping costs?when i dont it is free.

I guess we can expect to see bundle discounts more often now from Zavvi. I'm never buying a catalog release right away any more from Zavvi. They will just mark the steelbooks down by more than 50% once they realize they are not selling or they need to move stock. Argo & The Town are good examples as well as the Jungle Book. Those are pretty large reductions from the original offerings. Their pricing structure is flawed and they keep pumping out catalog releases. That just means more stock that they will resort to price slashing in order to make it move. Moral of the story, unless it's unique, a Disney release ( not so much the case anymore either), there is no rush. Just wait for a discount. This will be my new approach.

Totally agree - The only pre-orders I have now are Disney ones, and I've even cancelled MU due to the high price and poor spec

Of the 30 or so steels I ordered from Zavvi in the last year I can recall maybe three that sold out before release.

So I'm getting a 10% chance that I will have to pay over the odds and buy it elsewhere.
With the money I save from the 50% price drops I can more than afford to pay a few euro more on ebay.

i am ordering quite often from zavvi, and never got one of those personalized 10% discount codes per mail. never...

so, anyone who got one and doesnt need it essentially, please pm. me - it would reduce my current order for around 15€. many thanks!

I think they send you a code to entice you to place an order, order regularly and you don't get a code, that's how it's been with me anyway.

I got 1 10% code. Excpires sunday at midnight. Pm me and it's yours. I'm out getting shitfaced tonight so might not answer right away. But you're gonna get in time before it expires.

that's just what they are trying at first. write back to them and tell them you're not happy with a partial refund, it takes a while to argue with that costumer service, but in the end it might be worth it.

i.e. they once offered me a refund of 3€ on a totally bent and dented steelbook, i managed to get the full refund in the end.

I messaged them yesterday about my Captain America steelbook arriving damaged and they said very sorry, fill out the form and we will send you a replacement.
Thought that was very fair. And only took about 2 hours to get a reply.

Whatever option you select on the form, it seems to be irrelevant. I have requested a replacement and been given a refund and vice versa. Fingers crossed your luck's in.

Hope so. As long as it's still in stock by the time they get it, the replacement should be ok to get. Just hope it doesn't end up worse than my current copy!

When I had to return The Jungle Book, at the time there was talk that it may have been close to going out of stock hilarious:). I just ordered it again and posted the damaged one back for a refund. At least you can be sure you won't miss out doing it that way.

Returned a damaged The Prestige the other day along with the returns form stating I would like a refund.

So this turned up today...

Awesome fail on 3 counts. 1. Replacement sent instead of refund. 2. Not even sealed! 3. A return to the old cardboard envelope packaging.

It was only one out of the 5 I got today, the rest were in boxes. It still gave me an unwanted scare though.
