Current packaging is a cardboard mailer with the steelbook usually wrapped in either a layer of bubble wrap or foam

I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

1/19/2013 Member Nyvo tweeted Zaavi about packaging concerns. They said they may be looking into alternate packaging methods.

I'm sure if you allow the details to expire and the payment to fail, Zavvi send you a notification and you're able to amend your details at that point.

This has never happened to me but I've read about it on here.

This happens to me 3 times this month with star gate aviator and all I was tod was to leave it and then get a email saying the card has been declined and give them a newer card or one that will take payment . I did this on the day and all came to me as normal possibly a day later but still got them

Bah, too right. I didn't wanna say anything though :p

So I've just found out that my card doesn't expire until the END of May - not the beginning. Someone fed me false info on that one. So crisis averted for the most part. Godzilla and Robocop re-ordered on a credit card for now though, while all the sold out May releases will come off my debit card as normal.

Now, that only leaves me with Captain America, which most certainly will not come out in May and has sold out....

Why is this even an issue? I was able to change my card details on the Amazon website fer crying out loud. Why is Zavvi unable to do something so simple? :-/

They will let you use a different card after attempting to charge the expired one. But ONLY if you charged the card directly. If you paid with the card through PayPal, you're out of luck. Just went through this with Bambi, Cinderella & Brave. But as someone stated, just keep your eye out for when they put them back on sale...
 
Well, looks like I'm gonna receive a cancellation email soon for my order of Thor on Zavvi.nl.

Received a mail this morning where they say they are sorry for my item not being dispatched yet, they are working with their supplier to dispatch it soon.

It ain't good right?

Really? Well that's a relief. Why couldn't the Zavvi numpty just tell me that, would've saved a headache.

It's only CA:WS left, so it's a long way off yet. Might even find it cheaper elsewhere in the meantime!

Oh. My. God. Unbelievable. These pre orders are for Beetlejuice, Mars Attacks, Godzilla, Ultimate Avengers Collection and Robocop (2014). Robocop can be cancelled/re ordered but the others are long since sold out.

Does anyone have any advice? :(

KEEP ALL ORDERS - DO NOT CANCEL...
wait for release.. you´ll get a cc problem email from Zavvi and a link/button to fix the problem and/or update/change cc details will be available for every order affected..
 
Why do people keep complaining about Zavvi so much always? I have yet to receive a damaged steelbook from them and usually receive their orders in 4 days from the UK to Finland which is pretty damn fast if you ask me. The steelbooks are also well protected in foam and the boxes they use to send them are sturdy as well.

I have only ever received one damaged steel from them but that was sent in a jiffy bag. Only other problems have been spine slashes.

The problem people have mainly is that their email customer service is so robotic to the point of being a parody of itself. Customer service is so important to any business that you shouldn't be getting it this wrong. How such a retailer hasn't addressed such a matter is beyond me.

Oh I see. Haven't used Zavvi's customer service that much yet.

Yeah, their customer service has certainly been abysmal, at times. I've dealt with them regarding some damaged steels and a couple missing ones. I'd say about 70% of the time, they're able to resolve the issue within the first communication. However, other times the responses I get from them are so canned and/or completely unrelated to the problem, that it takes multiple back and forths to get the issue resolved.

....and some of it is SO UNECCESSARY..
when I am clearly stating I want a mint replacement for the damaged SteelBook they really don´t have to ask me three times if I´d accept a 10/15/20 % refund

It is unfair to expect a retailer to honour orders when an obvious error has occurred. Sure it is disappointing when retailers cancel orders, but that's life.

I believe something similar happened when Captain America: WS went live. There was a discount code available then, which I don't believe was applicable for pre-orders and/or steelbooks, yet some people were able to use the code anyway. Of course, a difference is that it was a pre-order situation, so makes you wonder if Zavvi may eventually cancel those orders. hmmm

it's ok mate, i didn't even take advantage of that code, but i'm just saying that a only profit-centric seller like zavvi, that bases his offer (and success) on continuous unregulated drops and discount codes, can't be justified those times it fails on its own playing field (and it changes the rules of the game).

That's all, and I hope it's written in english :D

Here is my spine slash, 7 spine slashes out of the last 20 odd steelbooks from zavvi now, they are the worst retailer ever imo. Wish I earned more money to afford Korean steels.

Tear is on the shrinkwrap directly above the knife cut on the spine. Therefore as Wreck stated, (probably) retailer did it.
 
It will be interesting to see how many copies are damaged. This is turning out to be a major major blunder on the part of Zavvi

We finally get a perfect steelbook from them and then their staff goes and knife cuts most of the spines. And you cant even ring them they dont have a phone number. Only the zavvi outlet on play has a phone and they have nothing to do with the zavvi.com site (so they tell me).

Now got to sit on my copies waiting a few days for their support to get back to me and then I have to send them back before they'll send a new couple out. They could be damaged too.
 
Couldn't they just put an additional piece of cardboard on top of the Steelbooks, so that when the person cuts open the box theyre cutting into cardboard and not the SBs.
