I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

If you go back about 15 posts, wjasoncul posted a response from Zavvi today about the packaging for their newest releases.

"I can now advise that our warehouse will package all items in sufficient packaging to make sure that they arrive with you in the best condition possible."

Take it how you will.

You have to laugh at that phrase "in the best condition possible" not mint, perfect, new or undamaged but the best possible.

Yeah I read lol! so basically the same mailer with the cheapest thinnest paper they could possibly find "as secure padding" :hilarious:

Every single person who receives this and any other steelbook in insufficient packaging, whether the steelbook is damaged or intact, should complain and request they get the white boxes back. I don't know how much longer they can go on ignoring this.

Unfortunately this will go on even if people keep complaining because they are still selling. The only way this will change (without interference from Trading Standards) is if alot of people stop buying from them. This steelbook is a prime example, £25, no idea on finish and will probably be sent out in the crappy mailers. Knowing all this people still buy it, that's why they won't change the packaging.

Most people will probably carry on buying from them though in fear of missing out on limited editions and Zavvi exclusives. If a lot come damaged, Zavvi will have to pay out a lot of partial or full refunds, money they could have used to buy better packaging plus some extra profit for themselves. We're in a situation where nobody wins unfortunately.

I don't think people need to stop buying. There are a fair amount of us on HDN who buy from Zavvi. I think we need to escalate our concerns as customers and ensure it gets forwarded to someone high enough to escalate the matter.

I just received a steelbook from Zavvi 20 minutes ago. It was dispatched on Friday and it came in a thin brown card envelope wrapped in one sheet of thin foam. The steelbook had 2 minor scratches. I'm emailing them now to complain.

Can't remember when but a lot of people will be looking forward to the 4 steels collection from the Indiana Jones series. Can you imagine the disappoint and the furore when people receive 1, 2, 3 or 4 damaged steels due to unfathomable new packing policy... Maybe that will be the tipping for a lot of people...

For the first time ever a purchase from me is shown complete as dispatched. Does this mean they'll send all three items in one box to me? It'll be stupid, cause then I have to pay taxes.

Zavvi ship all orders separately
You will have received a separate email notice of each order with expected delivery date

unfortunately the sales from collectors are not as important as the general demographic, we just represent a tiny profit and general costumers don't pay attention to a few scratches or minor dents or bents...i talk from the experience i had buying from best buy, i have seen people who just grab the steels and dont revise them as i do....

Assuming you are in Berlin as it says, surely you should not be charged taxes when ordering things from the UK as per the EU free trade agreement?

When ordering things from within the EU I certainly don't get charged anything extra.

You're right, but sometimes they're sending stuff from the Islands around and then our authorities aren't funny about :hilarious:
