Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

Currently the bar has been set very high for exclusive steelbook releases from other retailers. Zavvi's exclusives are frequently dull, predictable and very boring. Include all the promotional scams they pull on regular basis and they deserve all the criticism they get.

Im not saying their promotions are good because agreed they are not. But zavvi dont make these steelbooks if they are dull its the distributors fault not zavvis, i just get sick off seeing "The artwork is horrible, well done zavvi.... Not" In every single zavvi thread, it makes me post on hidef ninja alot less lately.

Once they purchase exclusive rights and attach their name they get to share in the blame. Other retailers choose to add all kinds of extra content to their exclusives and Zavvi repeatedly chooses to add nothing. They don’t have even add a zavvi exclusive sticker which would cost next to nothing. Like I said, predictable and boring.

Twaddle and poppycock !
What are you on about UNLESS you're referring to retailers OUTSIDE the U.K.? ? ?
If you're referring to HMV all of their steelbooks, apart from "Fury", are certainly NO BETTER than anything coming out of the Zavvi stable.
If not HMV, then who the hell else provides exclusive steelbooks in the U.K. on a regular basis apart from Zavvi ?

I just think this whole lets blame zavvi for everything that happens in the world mentality is boring and old.

They mess up, they have alot to improve on but if a steelbook artwork or Finnish pisses you off Email the Distributor/Marketing department of the movie as its them that decides on those sort of things, just please stop rehashing the same arguments over and over again about zavvi.

Oh my god, if I bought this from any other retailer that was showing the zavvi art but I got this art instead I would still send a complaint. I'm not sure what's hard to understand about that.

Sending a message to the distributor will help them in the future making sure the retailer has the correct info but it won't help with this release, the retailer has to know too and I bought it from zavvi so I can only contact them if I did want to return it or complain that the item is not as described.

I've only done this once with zavvi and that was Malificent as it was totally different art and image just a like this. Now luckily both still turned out fine (apart from the back of maleificent) but if this turned out worse that it would of gone a l more south.

People have said WWA was expected but this time around I genuinely thought we had WEA like the one displayed and I think Germany getting 4 or 5 different designs might of made me think that.

I've never seen another retailer get the art completely wrong (I'm sure someone will know of another) so that why you read zavvi getting stick for it because to my knowledge they are the only ones who have done it and I can't see distributors leaving them out of all the other retailers they send pics and info to

Edit : just remembered Amazon Jumanji did the same and custoemrs would of complained to Amazon for that just like custoemrs will to zavvi for this release

Of course I am referring to retailers outside the UK. You are the only collector that lives strictly inside a UK bubble. You should try coming outside once in a while.

Make it clear next time !
Anyway your comparisons are nonsense as you cannot compare a premium product from FIlm Arena or HDZETA with all the bells and whistles to a basic bog standard U.K. steelbook costing probably half as much.
Compare like for like as anything else is ridiculous !!!!!!!!!!!!

Those releases never started premium. Those retailers chose to add the extra bells and whistles. Zavvi could easily do the same. They simply choose not to. There really is no other discussion to be had. Plus I see the mods closing in on all of us soon.

I'm not defending other retailers because we do get some great steels from zavvi like the Disney range and others like ex MACHINA etc and I've only bought a select few myslef from other retailers
But a film arena release is usually a few quid cheaper than this priced at £24.99

My Birdman with all the extra stuff was £22.00

Must admit I like the HMV sticker though, and will buy an HMV Exclusive from HMV rather than from Xtra-vision if only to have the sticker . . . LOL

As I've written several times before I do wish that Zavvi would take a leaf out of the Entertainment Store's book and put those long rectangular stickers on everything limited from 1,000 to 2,000 - you know what I mean - something like:-
"LIMITED EDITION OF 1,000 COPIES AVAILABLE EXCLUSIVELY AT ZAVVI"

My last 2 hmv exclusives from xtra vision (and only 2 I've bought) both had stickers

It has been spoken about on here for a few years about zavvi stickers but they clearly haven't listend

I think though, that by-and-large, most steelbook purchasers open them so a sticker means pretty much nothing.

Sure, if you're buying an all singing, all dancing premium steelbook then yes, it'll be kept sealed. That's not what Zavvi is doing (even if their pricing suggests otherwise these days), nor are HMV really. Both of these retailers are putting out standard editions, often identical to other countries releases (once you remove the packaging) and trying to maximise their profits.

The issue here, is Zavvi need to put more effort into get their pictures and descriptions right. If I'd ordered Terminator: Genisys expecting that artwork, I'd be annoyed that it looked different. It's like in the old days, PlayUSA would always show you the US DVD cover, but you'd end up with some bilingual monstrosity which wasn't what you wanted.

HMV put the stickers on the outside like entertainment store did. Anyway a zavvi sticker don't bother me

But yeah completely agree about zavvi need the correct info. They must of had it, don't get why the studios/ distributors would leave them out when all other retailers have the correct mock up.
Luckily with terminator it turned out amazing but I still prefer the image I thought I was getting.

Believe me if the art was worse and matte then the threat would of blown up

It's not JUST Zavvi with the WRONG U.K. ARTWORK for the "Terminator Genisys" steelbook - I've just checked Blu-ray.com and the wrong artwork for the U.K. steel is there too !

Makes me more convinced not less that the fault is NOT Zavvi's alone although it doesn't explain why it hasn't been corrected yet on all three sites STILL showing the wrong artwork for the U.K. edition.

Unfortunately I can't post this in the correct thread because I've been given my first "time out" (until the 4th Nov.) after rising to the bait . . .

Glancing at the "TG" thread it seems that Zavvi are not providing Freepost returns for this steelbook and are saying to customers that the artwork was/is "subject to change" . . .
I must have missed the "Artwork TBC" on the website picture . . . but was it ever there I wonder ?
Anybody tried and succeeded in getting a partial refund on this item because of the misleading image on their website - i.e. the front of the in-hand steelbook does not match the front of the Zavvi website product picture ?

Oh, and a big THANK-YOU to HDN for moving wrong image to 'spoiler' and replacing with correct image
. . . which, of course, is good news for new buyers of this steelbook as when they log on to Zavvi and see "Artwork subject to change" they will hopefully consult forums for further details and come across HDN where they will now be able to see exactly what they will be getting :)

Now for Zavvi and BR.com to follow suit . . .

EDIT 8pm: Now Zavvi have put "Artwork subject to change" in the box to the right of the image.
Anybody remember this being there before because if not it's what I call a 'cunning stunt' . . .

EDIT 5/11: Correct artwork now showing on BR.com - now just Zavvi to correct itself . . . something that I suppose they will do eventually . . . hopefully, before all 4,000 copies are sold . . . LOL

Messaged Zavvi today via "Feedback" regarding my wish for exclusive stickers on their "Ultra Limited Edition Steelbooks" - 1,000 / 1,500 / 2,000 - expressing my preference for the long horizontal style sticker of the Entertainment Store as opposed to the HMV circle style.
My message reads :-
"Dear Sir or Madam,
RE: ZAVVI EXCLUSIVE STICKERS ON STEELBOOKS
I was wondering if this could be considered ?
Maybe something in the style of the Entertainment Store's former long horizontal rectangular Exclusive stickers or even the not quite so pleasing circular HMV Exclusive stickers ?
To read something like :-
"LIMITED EDITION OF 1,000 (1,500 / 2,000) COPIES AVAILABLE EXCLUSIVELY AT ZAVVI"
This would be the icing on the cake in my opinion.
Yours faithfully, -----------------"

BTW does anyone know what has happened to Zavvi's numbered slipcover Amaray editions as they appear to have stopped at No.2 ?
(It's almost as if they are in competition with Shameless - with their 3 numbered releases in 11mm yellow Amarays - for the least number of releases in the longest possible time frame . . . LOL).

EDIT 4/11 11AM: Reply received from Zavvi regarding "Limited Edition Stickers" :-
"Hello Nicholas,
Thank you for getting in touch with us.
I will pass your feedback onto the relevant department for you . . ."

Anything going to change ?
We shall see . . .

Pretty sure it was always there, it can usually be found in the Preorder price promise box on pre-orders, it can be easily missed as it blends in with the price promise text.

And they STILL haven't changed the artwork to Terminator Genisys but today finally did change Inside Out.

Cheers for that - I must admit I never spotted it but then again I wasn't looking for it . . .

Just off now to check "Inside Out" . . .presume it's the black background that we expected . . . ?

EDIT 1.50AM: Yup.
