I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

I've ordered 2 steels (at the same moment) from Zavvi to try their service... well.. gotta say that I'm not impressed at all...
One in a cardboard mailer and the other in jiffy bag... may I remind you that I've ordered both at the same time in the same order...

Follow up on this.

Got an answer from Zavvi:
Hi Marc,

Thank you for getting in touch about order.

I am sorry for the way you've received your item, I have since requested for 10% to be refund from your order. This should be with you within 3-5 working days.

I am also passed your customer feedback along to the relevant department, we do appreciate customer feedback whether it'd be good or bad.

If there's anything else we can do please don't hesitate to get in touch and a member of our team will be happy to help.

Kind regards,
J.

Not much... but better than nothing... and hopefully, they'll upgrade their packaging to meet Play's standard.

Paint chips are not uncommon with Steelbooks. Not every Steelbook goes through a 360 degree scan prior to packaging. But it is still an imperfection that could be bothersome to some. For those who are not OCD, if a paint chip is on a Steelbook with black finish just fill it with a permanent black marker.

but that wasn't a paint chip on the pic i posted, the shrink wrap, and a bit of paint, was rubbed off on the corners....so I assumed it was done during transport.

Yup... that's it...

At least they didn't ask me to return it... would have costed 2x the price of the steel itself shipping from Canada...

But even if they asked you to return it, thsey should pay the shipping costs.

I'm sorry man.

This is the retailer that will be the next "steelbook home"? :(

Amazon would have sent you replacement for free or at least refunded you without further problems!

Looper update;sent a disclaimer saying that my order had not arrived-Zaavi customer service are looking into giving me a refund-however item is still in stock & I wanted replacements-had to reorder the steelbook-to the same address-& still waiting for a refund for my intial order

As an added feature some copies will come with extra debossing....i.e. Dents.

Either you are a total pessimist, heard nothing about Zavvi looking into better packaging, or maybe you work for them and will be deliberately denting them before despatch.

Zavvi deserve credit for listening to customers and looking at improving steelbook packaging. It's getting a bit monotonous on here with people assuming that they will get dented goods before they are even released.

I agree with this thought. The only update this thread has had for the last few pages is people moaning about the packaging. Well, guess what folks, play is gone and we need to be patient with our expectations. There's nothing wrong in wishing and wanting better packaging but until they rework it (which as wreck has said and multiple members have repeated over and over) we just have to wait.

If you are so confident that the steels will be dented or damaged when they arrive, I humbly suggest to you - DO NOT PRE-ORDER from Zavvi. Get it after the release.

Can we refocus on the topic please. A useful update would be nice for a change.

End of rant.

I like Zavvi, I have never had a problem with deliveries being late or items being damaged etc, in fact quite the opposite. Sure, I would never expect to receive a pre-order from them on release day, but my orders always turn up and they're always packaged sufficiently well. I've returned a few things to them due to changing my mind, and they've always been really helpful in terms of allowing me to return them via freepost. Also, they email me 10% off codes almost every month, so their already cheap items then become even more of a bargain.

So whilst I firmly believe in "to each their own" on this topic I think people should stop complaining and just see what happens. The fact is if Zavvi hadn't taken over from Play/HMV, who's to say we'd even be getting exclusive steelbooks in the UK any longer? Amazon may not want to take on all of the work and constant whining from steelbook collectors, so I think we should be thankful that Zavvi stepped in to fill an otherwise gaping gap in our collecting community.

It's a subtle joke...but what's not a joke is the amount of damaged steels I've got from zavvi...now if they sort packaging in time, great :)

Is it possible we could keep Zavvi chat to the retailer thread? We all know how bad their service and packaging is right now but Wreck has told us that they have promised to improve. So let's wait until March and then judge Zavvi. There's nothing more interesting that can be said on the topic so let's make this the last word before this is released :)

I have only heard bad things about Zavvi,i dont understand why so many people order from them though they know there is a huge chance receiving dented or completely destroyed steelbooks...!!

Posts moved-please keep retailer chat to this thread. It has already been remarked several times that Zavvi is investigating alternative packaging. Please feel free to check OP for any major updates. Thanks all!
