Current packaging is a cardboard mailer with the steelbook usually wrapped in either a layer of bubble wrap or foam

I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

1/19/2013 Member Nyvo tweeted Zaavi about packaging concerns. They said they may be looking into alternate packaging methods.

Did anyone else notice that Zavvi is currently 'uncontactable'?? (Or is it just me?)

I cannot query any of my preorders as I am unable to 'send an online message'. The box is just 'greyed out' and nothing happens when you click on it.

It's been like this all day now. I've been trying to get in contact with them as my Oblivion Steelbook still hasn't turned up.

How the **** do you query an order now if you can't contact them?

Unbelievable.
 
It's working fine for me. You just have to click through the options and then it turns green.
 
Got my newest steel today with the new foam. Here's a side by side of the last new foam:

Got my Rambo First Blood steel today with staple mark on the back, thanks to those new foam, making their packaging even less secure now:angry:

They also use different box now, pretty much the same with the old one but with different material, better cardboard imo, but with those new foam, they just making it worse :(:(:(
 
I reported a slash across the spine of The Jungle Book on the 14th August (post #81 in this thread).

Initiated return/replacement process with Zavvi on the same day, and as additional "insurance" placed an order for another copy, too.

The new steelbook arrived yesterday, thankfully in mint condition with no spine slash :)

Luckily the new copy also has perfectly aligned embossing; the first copy had severely misaligned embossing.

It took six days for Zavvi CS to come back with the RA number. This with several back-and-forth messages (request for pictures, offer for partial refund) when I already in my first message specified that I won't take damaged items into my collection.

I've learnt my lesson now; if I ever need to return a damaged steelbook to Zavvi, my first message will specify in addition to the description of the damage that "I wish to return the item for replacement", "I can send pictures, but I'm not interested in a partial refund or store credit", "please just give me the RA number".

The first copy will go back for refund on Monday...

I get those same kind of scratches all the time under the wrapper, but not through. That is what I was referencing earlier when I said multiple scratches going in different directions. I really am considering that there is some bad apple employee in the factory going "Ha! Screw those guys!" and scratching them up before putting on the Jcard.

In your case though, I can clearly see where the fault lies.

I sent back to copies with identical damage, in the same places. And all this 2 pound refund malarkey, I don't do damaged steelbooks and if I did, aim higher than a measley 2 pounds!

I cannot be arsed with the pot luck of this title.

Instead, I purchased a place beyond the spines (slash)
 
Still chasing the refund for 2x Close Encounters. They refunded for 1 SB around 12th and not for the other one yet which was in the same package.

Their reply acknowledging receipt and initiating refund.

I got that 'you will be refunded in 3-5 working days' for my Evil Dead (2013) and Evil Dead 2 damaged Steelbooks. And to be fair to Zavvi, I was.

I got a 25% refund on the total of ED2 (it had a large scratch down the front) and 50% refund on the total of ED (2013) (Large dent on spine where it meets the front cover. Had to have been there even before the paint job as the paint was perfect over the dent!!)

Zavvi managed to piss me off to a point of no return.

When I noticed they had a new coupon for 5 off 50, I wanted to cancel two large orders I had. That way, I could divide the two orders into several orders with the discount.

However, when I canceled both of them, I got an error-message. At first I thought: ok, no problem, I'll just retry. But when I opened My Account, Zavvi had instead canceled two completely different orders than the ones I selected!

In these orders, there were steelbooks that already sold out - like Tron and From Dusk Till Dawn - of which I only had 1 per order. There was no way for me to 'undo' the cancellations, so they have now disappeared from My Account. I sent them a message, but I don't expect them to solve this, as their customer service is absolutely terrible.

I had no idea Zavvi could get any worse....but they did it.
 
zavvi are getting worse.

have been trying to cancel an item since last monday (it was part of an order with a discounted item in it) - no problem they said, it will be cancelled within 24 hours. sat at "processing cancellation" ever since. 5 messages later, confirming that it will be cancelled in 24 hours. the order is not out until october.

todays message from their highly skilled "customer service" rep.

is there any way you can get somebody from this useless company to actually read and action your requests.

"Thank you for getting in touch about cancelling an item.

This is not showing as cancelled, however I can confirm that a request has been made and this should cancel before the release date, however as the release date is in october it won't be closer to that date until the item may be cancelled.

No charge will be taken for the the DVD.

If there is anything else that we can do, then please do not hesitate to get in touch and a member of our team will be happy to help.

I really recommend that if you have an issue, to try their Facebook page instead. I've tried their customer service address on their website and I have never ever had a reply. Meanwhile I usually get a reply a day later, if not sooner on their Facebook page.
