I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

I've watched all the problems on the forums with Zavvi and up until now I've not had any problems but they keep shipping steelbooks with the cellophane ripped at the bottom. They then ask me to send them pictures. Is that normal? I thought you had a certain amount of time to return an item if you didn't want it. Surely ask for a replacement is the same as asking for a refund and then buying it again.

I am using Zavvi only if I really have no choice, and unless it is a high demand title I am no longer pre ordering from them. Tired of seeing titles I pre ordered at £15 going for £7 just 3 weeks later.

Several of the Steelbooks I have pre-ordered/purchased from Zavvi have dropped in price shortly after release. It is definitely frustrating and I will be more careful in future. I would prefer that they drop the pre-order price a little bit for everyone. What is surprising to me is how certain titles sell out without a price-drop along the way and others which were very popular movies, such as Close Encounters of the Third Kind, end up selling for bargain basement prices. It is not always clear cut.

I know everyone has a lot to say about Zavvi.
I received 5 steels from them on Friday, 2 of which were dented.

A few photos, and messages through their website, and I have had mails, to say that replacements for them both, have been sent to me this morning.

Cant fault them. ( as long as the replacements turn up mint! )

Zavvi's customer service is http://www.sherv.net/cm/emo/funny/1/****-emoticon.gif.

I contacted their customer service in regards to 3 missing steelbooks 4-5 months ago. They requested completed ''non receipt of goods'' forms, and I completed these forms and send these to at least 4 different Zavvi customer service email addresses (general & personal email addresses). Never received a reply from them. I decided to contact them via facebook, and a more helpful representative responded. I send the forms again, and I received a refund a few days ago (finally...).

But that's not all.

A while ago, PayPal closed my account (security measures) because Zavvi tried to take payment for a few orders 30 times on a single day. PayPal is now reviewing my account and my funds are hold for 6 months. I repeatedly asked Zavvi not to refund me on my PayPal account since it was closed/under review. I asked them to put the refund on my credit card, which is linked to my PayPal account. But guess what they did? Yes, that's what they did. They put the refund on my closed PayPal account. Meaning that I paid for steelbooks I never received, spend a lot of time (4-5 months) trying to get a refund or replacement, and when Zavvi finally decided to refund me, they made sure that I won't be able to access my own money for a period of 6 months.

There is more...

I also returned a bunch of steelbooks. These steelbooks were paid with my credit card. I paid for the return shipping costs (still waiting on a refund for the P&P costs), and even though these steelbooks were paid with my CC and NOT with my PayPal account, Zavvi still put the refund on my PayPal account.... *sigh*.

Other complaints:

- I've only received 1500 rewardz points, should've been over 3000 by now.

- Their new ''steelbook packaging'' sucks ass. It's not even steelbook packaging, it's just crap. 40% of my steelbooks arrive damaged (scratches, thorn J-card, dents).

what steels have just been released? I got a charge for $24....Just wondering...havnt got an email yet...just from my bank when i get a international charge

I'm also finding that if I have more than one question or need more than one thing taken care of I have to send messages for each individual item. If I put more than one thing in a single message it goes ignored without fail. For example this last message I sent I asked them to verify that they would cover return shipping costs and also for their return address. I got only the verification. This is about the 5th time something like that has happened.

Does anyone happen to know the return address for Zavvi? They stopped responding after they asked me to send my copy of Pacific Rim back.

I had returned 2 Steelbooks for a refund long time back. They sent out replacement instead. I returned for the second time. The package was delivered on 20th. I didn't hear back from them about the refund and after contacting them yesterday evening they said refund will be processed but I am yet to receive the refund email. I am pretty sure it was only a reply and they didn't trigger the refund. I am going to wait until this weekend and if nothing shows up in my bank account I am going to send a stinker to them. Not sure why customers have to remind them about refunds.

The more I think about it and the more I have to interact with them over getting my second movie replaced, the more I find their 20% off dance insulting. Can anyone in the UK comment on whether this is a cultural thing or if Zavvi are just failing hard at customer service?

On another note, what's up with Paypal never working as a payment option? Is it because I am international or it's a pre-order or something?

No, it's a Zavvi problem. I have never had to take photos of a damaged item for any other retailer or online store, and I buy a lot online.

Something is going wrong at Zavvi's delivery lately. This is twice now that items that were sent at later date arrived to me before items that were sent earlier. In the first instance, the item ("Taxi Driver" steelbook) never arrived at all. Now my "Castlevania" steelbook still hasn't arrived even though the "Monster University" steelbook that were sent a week later has arrived. Should I start to worry again? This is really annoying.

I see other people have complained about missing steelbooks as well. Zavvi should really investigate about this. It's really frustrating to not receive your item and having to contact their customer service.

Just received Starship Troopers SB in Australia from Zavvi.com (UK).
When I saw the packaging, I was really in shock EEK!

Really really lucky that SB is still in mint condition without any damages.

When did Zavvi change their packaging for steelbooks?

I still have a few orders of Zavvi exclusive SBs (Wreck It Ralph, Toy Story 123) :(

Well the current boxed packaging isn't that much better either. The current 'foam' being used could be replaced with tissue paper and it wouldn't make much of a difference imo. Just got a damaged Dark of the Moon from them yesterday and I'm seriously on the verge of cancelling all existing orders with them right now.

I had very slow CS replies from them regarding my Evil Dead steelbook.
First copy never turned up and second had paint chips, took 4 days to get a £1 refund!
Only orders I got left are Conjuring and just placed order for Place beyond the pines using 10% off code. Hope it turns up AND mint.

I think Zavvi should improve their packaging and charge the true postage for overseas customers. Otherwise this damaged saga will continue forever.
As an overseas customer, I would rather pay more than pay the current postage of 0.99 pounds to play the steelbook version of Russian Roulette.

Submitted feedback along with the request for a replacement, but that part of the email was apparently ignored in their next reply. :ugh:
