*PLEASE NOTE: This list is a 'guide' only and compiled based on a variety of factors including community 'feedback' and 'suggestions'. Steelbook collecting is HIGHLY SPECULATIVE, and different collectors have different ideas of 'rarity', 'limited', 'sought after', and related terms-all of which may change at the drop of a hat with re-releases, or new info.

Please visit the Steelbook forum, if you have more detailed questions regarding specific titles, and their 'current' status, as this list is 'dynamic' and changes over time. *

I posted this in another forum before but I prefer this one, so I try again here. This is an ongoing list that combines a variety of factors that may contribute to the scarcity or rarity of these Steelbooks.-Sirjump

We started off with a "ranked" list, but as many folks may rank items differently, a general "resource" list of harder to find Steelbooks/Rare titles helps the community more. Feel free to comment so we can consider adding or subtract. -Digitalbabe

:scat:Keep sharing your thoughts & together we can help the list evolve!:)

Possible criteria as to what makes a steelbook rare/hard to find:

* General interest in movie
* Availability at retailer & exclusivity
* Print run
* Country of origin & region code
* Steelcase design
* (Initial) price
* Individually numbered items
* Print Errors
* Hype
* Price on 3rd party marketplaces

Hate to pick holes in this otherwise useful thread :D But,

Sweeney Todd :wtf: One of the cheapest most common steels on ebay.co.uk? For me it was a sympathy purchase. Is this with the booklet i'm guessing?

Inglourious Basterds FNAC I bought from amazon.fr, delivered for like £11? The German original is rarer/less common and in turn more $$$ so is the Canadian debossed one IMHO.

I just got 2 x Predators a few days ago from Finalnd, Discshop have only just gone OOP. It is as near as makes no difference the same steelbook.

All of these are in my collection and rank amoungst the easiest if not the cheapest to find. I've read DB's and others posts above, and agree with what was said, but really, these three?

I agree, there are quite a few on the list that should not even be there.

How can you buy Inglorious Basterds FNAC from Amazon.fr unless it was from a third party seller? If it was, as above you were probably really lucky.

Yes, IB was third party, but there are still quite a few on there right now and they are all quite cheap. It was actually New i've checked the listing and think I remember opening it. I was just making the point out of all the IB releases this is probably still the most common and easy to pick up. I found the horizontal steel harder to find.

Chandler, we always ask members to be specific so all of our staff can help review this list periodically. The list is updated when multiple Steels are mentioned. If there is suddenly a flood of a title, and or a title skyrockets, either in price or rarity, we'll update the list. Obviously average prices on some items vary significantly, so we want to be careful about removing or adding items based on anomalies. But all feedback is considered, so please post your specific titles here. Thanks!

I think people should stop worrying about the list and individual titles' value so much. When I started collecting about a year ago, the list was a HUGE help for me and it should still be considered as a guide for new collector's on what is rare or potentialy expensive. There are so many new releases coming out now from all over the world and it is almost impossible to keep track anymore. Especially with some titles being rare before they are even released...

What I wanted to say is, thanks to everybody for contributing to the list. It will never be complete, it will never be perfect for everybody (I could do without all the Metal Packs, slip cases and other non-steelbooks), but it is a brilliant guideline!! :drool:

Thanks Lutz for the positive comments. Like members trying to keep up with the past and future release slate, Mods and Staff are collectors too constantly reviewing values/availability on titles. Our input of the entire community,their experiences and findings are invaluable to the upkeep and updates to this list-there's just no way we could do it alone, tracking 100's of releases across the globe, LOL:)

I was wondering why Avatar Extended is not in the list, especially JP first with hardcover booklet, Korea and HK. China and Taiwan are less compared to the former.
Probably, some of you do not totally agree with the above, but for the following, I believe no one will say no, that is, Terminator 4 China IP (probably IP). Only 100 copies released according to the information from inside, absolutely the rarest compared to the titles in the list. Some of you probably heard of this title, but never saw it in person.
